He wouldn't be going to the Nets or Clippers. He'd be going to NY or LA. Get it? It's all about the cities. The ultimate recruiting tool: glamor.

How is being the JV Team of LA glamorous? I mean I know it's LA, but him and that franchise will always be under the shadows of the Varsity Lakers.

Also am I missing something here, but when did New Jersey all of a sudden become a glamorous state and Newark a glamorous city? My cousin lives there and I go there every other summer to visit and that place is a dump! I couldn't wait to come back home to Houston.

I don't think the Clippers even deserve a player of Melo's caliber after all the bad karma their racist owner has bestowed upon that ill fated franchise.

I thoroughly believe the sports Gods, if they do exist, are gonna continue to punish the Clippers until Sterling either steps down or sells that organization.

He would sign an extention with NY or LA your right but if there was some way for him go that would just be very very very evident that this league is fixed! When it becomes that predictable there's no reason to watch or be entertained.

The Nets won't be in New York for another 2 years. I don't see him waiting that long.

Also, would he really like the glamour of playing for the unofficial D-League offiliate of the Lakers?

If a Point of quality were not added in this supposed deal or subsequent one I would worry. Lots, I would worry.

I understand, but thanks. And yes, at first blush it did not look cap workable, did it?

Somehow, when completed, any deal would be more involved than
Damp/AB/Melo. So, if one materializes we'll see how it gets structured.

I think we are in the mix.... Denver is playing hard ball to get us to offer more that were offering. At least that's what I think.

Funny, Alan Hahn now has a story up on newsday that echoes the yahoo story but only mentions Clippers, Nets and Warriors. Freaking New York

I'm not wasting time adding the link

The family just bought the St. Louis Rams and also own the Colorado Avalanche, along with the Denver Nuggets. They control a lot of jobs for athletes.

Here's what I know- If Melo honestly wants to sign with the Clips he obviously doesn't have winning high in his list of priorities. If that's the case they can have him for all I care.

Of course you kind of have to say the same about the Nets so... gaahhh

Here's hoping that those two are both just leverage providers to get him to Houston- his real first choice. A guy can dream right?

I was going to post that LA could have a solid starting lineup with Melo but then I remembered that either Kaman or Baron will have to be included in any deal for Melo to make salaries match. I honestly don't see the Clippers being a legit contender for Melo. I don't see why Melo would want to go to a team that isn't going to contend and has no real depth.

Kaman, Aminu, Butler, Clippers 2011 first, and a Minn 2012 first is a pretty sweet deal for Denver. If anything I think Denver is pushing for Melo to go to the Clippers, but I doubt he actually wants to go there.

I think it's between the Nets and Rockets...Just my opinion...

Also, does anyone know how a Net trade would be structured since they are under the cap?

nets are only ~2mil under the cap. they'd have to send back +/-125%+100k of melo's salary if they were to trade for them

So when does Kupchak swing into action and offer up Bynum, Odom, and a couple picks?

Look the first two games of the NBA Season are Heat vs Celtics and Lakers Vs Rockets. The reason why the Rockets are playing with the other 3 big time contenders on opening night is not solely because Yao is coming back... it's because we are getting Carmelo Anthony and that makes us BIG TIME contenders. The stage is already set I'm just waiting to buy a Houston Rockets Carmelo Anthony jersey when he signs with us. This Clippers, Nets, Knicks and whoever else is being hyped in this Melo sweepstakes are irrelevent to the teams that are playing opening night because the four teams that are playing on opening night are all BIG TIME contenders!

These are the trades I would suggest:

    or

The way I see things, if we are going to get Melo, we really don't need both Brooks or Martin so one or the other has to go.
