Every car has a drivers seat and a passengers seat. I think you at least need 2 superstars in most cases to win a championship these days... In most cases that is...

I never said that I would enjoy winning less games with this team compared to winning more games with a team containing melo. I said if I had a choice of winning I would rather do it with this team if possible. If its not possible, then i want melo, but there is not way of knowing this until like halfway through the season...

It is not possible. I personally guarantee you this team right now at ITS VERY BEST. Is only a second round team, who will maybe sneak into the Western Conference Finals if lucky.

Add Melo to the equation while losing only a few assets and you get a WCF favorite and big-name contender. It's amazing to watch a darkhorse/underdog will it's way into playoff series wins, yes. But a championship is a championship no matter how you earn it might as well give yourself the best opportunity.

    Boring?
When a superstar beats his men off the dribble and manages to throw one down over someone or **** just dunking it, a play like that is what sparks a team, it gets the crowd into it; if at home that is.

If a star is out there for the grab I say we swoop in and get to business.

if we only get rid of martin, hill, budinger, and jeffries im all for it because we dont lose anything. melos scoring is better than martins and lee cancels out budinger even though they play different positions.

i kinda agree with the OP, it would be more rewarding to win with our current team. unfortunately i don't consider our chances better than a noteworthy also ran.

my affection for the players notwithstanding, i'd rather just win.

Every keeps talking about the 2004 Pistons we are not them! They had one of the best defenses known to basketball. 4 of their starters made the all star team. They came out the east and we are coming out the west. We have a chance to get Melo then you better get him bottom line...

    Better is disputable.
Sure he can score more points, but Martin does it more efficiently and Martin is a better three-point shooter.

I'd rather get rid of Brooks... Just because he has a bigger ego than Martin which isn't a bad thing now, but if Melo and Brooks were to play on the same team I don't think they would mesh well. As opposed to a somewhat pure point guard like Kyle Lowry playing alongside Melo and Martin.

Also, Yao Ming is back so he'll get increased touches and combined with Melo... Brooks might feel tempted to jack up threes as soon as he touches the ball to make sure he gets his touches in. No offense to him and I don't blame him.

Not to mention that the pace of the game will be slowed down to mainly half-court offense at least while Yao is on the court, meaning Brooks won't be as efficient as before. I find Lowry to be a better half-court player.

Of course this is all considering we get Melo in the first place...

It's boring until its the 4th quarter, tie game, with 1:30 left. We don't have that go to guy right now unless Yao can come back full strength. IDK about you, but it sux having "fun" watching our team play together the whole game only to lose by 3 points because they had no one to close out the game.

Take Durant out of your hate, a budding star that stays quiet, wants to improve and happy to stay put.

On the topic though, if you have a chance to grab a star I think you do so. Yes I think I'm on board 100%, well at least a Roger Clemens 99.99% sure.

Also it's logical to give the best player on your team the most shot attempts and most ball touches. That's what we do with Yao, our whole offense when he is healthy is based around him. Almost every single play involves Yao whether he touches the ball or not.

People need to quit using chemistry as an excuse not to get Carmelo. Yao Ming didn't play all last year. Don't you think plugging him back into the lineup might disrupt the chemistry a bit. I didn't hear people griping about chemistry when we signed Miller or acquired Lee. Having Melo here brings in a legitimate superstar, and his presence could attract others down the road.

This is even more of a reason to trade for Melo. If Yao goes down,(and yes it is very possible) the team should still stay competitive.

Not to mention with Melo here it's possibly more attractive to other marquee players.

I'm a fan of Durant, but not the way he plays. I would rather watch LeBron, Wade, Nash, Deron Williams, Ginobili... These are guys who score 20+ but also distribute the ball.. I dont enjoy watching players like Durant, Melo, Kobe, and Pierce jack up horrible shots when they arent open.
