They are just mad because they have Galinari which is the equivalent to Chase Budinger and Eddie Curry to offer the Nuggest and nothing else. Nets arent giving up Favors and one of their two best players. Thats just not happening. Even if it does they go right back to lottery once again. Carmello doesnt want to go to the lottery. He wants playoffs. This story must be true or Knicks fans and people trying to kill the story wouldnt be here who show up out of nowhere. ROCKETS are seriously in this!

I don't see how the Nets are a player here if by trade. The only way it would work would be for them to trade Murphy, and probably one of their younger stars - likely either Brooks or Favors + a future 1st rounder. Does NJ really want to give away two starting quality big men in a trade given their current roster? It makes far more sense for them to convince Melo to wait until the summer and they can try and sign him outright after Murphy's contract expires but then Melo assumes a big risk with the CBA changing - he could potentially lose millions there.

That would make them a strong future contender if Melo came in FA....but if they trade Murphy + Brooks or Favors for Melo then they are short at the 4/5 and over the cap meaning they are in Miami territory of looking to fill out their roster at the most expensive position to fill since quality big men come at a premium. They will be able to add players with various exceptions over the years but I don't see a starting lineup this year of Devin Harris, Terrance Williams, Melo, Sean May, and Brook Lopez as being an elite team - especially if their bigs off the bench are Johan Petro and Kris Humphries....

LOL... honestly, I'm pretty sure the biggest reason they're trashing the Rockets is that some of our biggest assets - the two NYK picks, Jordan Hill, and Jeffries' expiring contract to help match salary in a deal - were given to the Rockets for the dying carcass of Tracy McGrady. It's always hardest to admit your own mistakes...

I don't think the Nets are a threat. In the end, the reason Melo would want to go to NYK is to play with Amar'e and eventually Tony Parker/Chris Paul.

He would split up the trio by going there, and also Denver will ask for Lopez or Favors...I think it's better for the Nets to stay put. You drafted a guy in the top 5, it's always risky trading him away when his potential is pretty much anything right now.

I think the Nyets are the top choice....billionaire owner, moving to Melo's hometown....Brook Lopez and a good PG in Harris.......

They may have to give up Favors, but that is ok.

Moved from low percentage to 50/50 with his announcement of Rockets as his favored destination and the fact that we have the best assets to match anyone.

this would be a dream coming true
though there might be 2 concerns:
    1-chemistry
2-defense: if we trade Battier we lose our defensive identity

So I guess Wade and Bosh will be wasted with Lebron on that team since he commands the ball so much.

Yea, but kinda already lost that last year... even though with Yao back I do think we can be a good defensive team along with Battier, but that defensive "identity",so to speak, is still gone.

And you think they won't have to do that for Yao? Yao has already shown that he can't play in the system the Rockets used last year. They tried it in Adelman's first year and quickly scrapped it and went back to a low post game.

His impact here would be the same as Durant's would be. They have the same game IMO. Would Durant make you enthusiastic?

Durant is a better all around player, in addition to being younger and having more upside. Melo is much worse than Durant.
