Stop hating on the trade I posted

The idea was to post my thought that, for me, the fact that Denver likes Iggy, and Melo would not re-sign with Philly, It opens a opportunity for us to get involved.....

And I am sorry, for me...

    Hawes
    Speights
    Battier/C BUD
    Turner
    Holiday

This is a pretty nice starting five, plus they get 1 possible lottery pick, plus the swap for a possible lottery pick

And if Hill proves me wrong, and starts playing great b-ball and because Hawes is still a talented, but very SOFT dude, Speights Hill, could be a very dynamic big duo, that would rebound the Hell out on the floor.

Another thing, someone posted another offer after, the trade is nice, but there is a problem, you put players out of position like it is nothing, Speights is a PF not a C, Turner is a SG not a SF, I am not saying they can“t play there, but you want good/great players playing the position were they are more effective at

Plus how many PFs would Philly have????

The point was not to be pitch perfect, because the GMs are the ones to decide, the point was that this Philly rumor is strange to me, and FOR ME, there is still hope, that Morey continues to work to arrange a trade, not only for assets, but for the big fish

melo on the hotseat now: "i'm leaving my options open. at the end of the season, i'll sit down with my team, i'll sit down with the nuggets"

more melo: "i've never said i wanted to be traded. i never once said anything about trade talk"

add melo: "i've been a nugget for 7 years. this is where i started my career. tomorrow the ball goes up and we get started."

then melo cut off questions and left

Ha exactly. Funny, most of these media guys or "insiders" saying the same thing.

    "Straight out of LeBron's playbook"

    "LeBron 09 script"

And wow, Brian Windhorst leaving the Cleveland PD to cover the Heat for ESPN

DENVER -- Carmelo Anthony arrived at media day Monday wearing a Denver Nuggets jersey.

For how much longer the All-Star forward will wear that white, powder blue and gold uniform, though, remains unknown.

The Nuggets have been engaging in talks with teams interested in acquiring Anthony. A potential megadeal with the New Jersey Nets hit a snag over the weekend, putting the Nuggets and Anthony in the awkward position of being together on the eve of training camp.

The Nuggets' new management team of Masai Ujiri and Josh Kroenke began entertaining offers for their superstar after he declined to sign a three-year, $65 million extension that's been on the table since June.

Earlier Monday, J.R. Smith posted "He back!" on Twitter, along with a picture of Anthony.

The Nuggets entered the weekend on the brink of ending their seven-year association with Anthony by dealing their franchise player to the Nets as part of a trade that would also involve Charlotte and Utah.

The Nuggets instead spent the weekend talking to other teams in an attempt to see if teams such as New York, Chicago or the Los Angeles Clippers could trump the four-way framework that would bring Nets rookie Derrick Favors, Jazz veteran Andrei Kirilenko and two future first-round picks to Denver in return for Anthony, with the Nets also sending point guard Devin Harris to Charlotte and Utah acquiring veteran forward Boris Diaw from the Bobcats.

Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that Denver officials were clinging to hope that Anthony -- who has had virtually no contact with the organization all summer -- could be convinced to reconsider his desire to be traded once he reports to training camp and starts hearing pro-Nuggets voices again.

"The deal is in neutral," one source close to the negotiations told ESPN.com on Sunday afternoon. "Denver is trying to get [Anthony] there for media day [on Monday] and beg him to stay."

Anthony's presence at camp, however, is not a given. Sources with knowledge of Anthony's thinking said one option he has considered this week is not reporting to Nuggets camp if he was not traded by Monday, despite the fact that a holdout of any length would put him at risk for stiff discipline from the league office and make things even more uncomfortable locally for Anthony if Denver decides to keep him.

The Nuggets, meanwhile, commenced trade talks with the Philadelphia 76ers about a new trade for Anthony that would be co-headlined by Sixers swingman Andre Iguodala, according to reports out of Philadelphia and Denver. That's despite the fact that the Sixers, according to sources, have been told that Anthony is not prepared to sign a contract extension if he is traded to Philadelphia, whereas it is widely presumed that he will do so if dealt to New Jersey.

The Nuggets have also queried the Golden State Warriors about including Stephen Curry in a deal, according to The Denver Post.

But one source with knowledge of those discussions downplayed the possibility of any Golden State involvement, describing the negotiations as "brief talks going nowhere."

Because there has been no indication that Anthony would agree to an extension with the Warriors, Golden State -- like Philadelphia -- has little incentive to part with valuable assets for what could wind up as a costly one-season rental, given that Anthony can become a free agent on July 1, 2011.

Denver's weekend discussions with other teams have not surprisingly caused frustration among the Nets, Bobcats and Jazz, but one source with knowledge of New Jersey's thinking continued to express hope that the original four-way deal would go through sometime this week.

The source, pointing to the fact that the highly publicized proposed deal would furnish Denver with Favors and two more first-rounders, described the Nets as "believing the deal will happen at some point."

Nets general manager Billy King, speaking Sunday to local reporters, would only address the prospect of acquiring Anthony in general terms.

"I would say that we're exploring everything," King said. "But there's no deal. We have nothing. We have nothing. We're excited about the guys playing. I'll continue to explore and see if we can make the team better. At this point I'm excited about watching our guys practice.

"It's a process. ... Some of them take two years to get to the point when you get the player you want. Some take two weeks. I think you've got to make sure you do it and do it the right way."

"Everyone is waiting on Denver, not Melo [committing to an extension]," one source close to the trade talks told ESPN.com's Chris Sheridan.

Information from The Associated Press and ESPN.com senior writer Marc Stein was used in this report.

Note quite, but related. Melo is probably using the Lebron 09 playbook as a "back-up option" to motivate the Nuggets to move him. I think the Nuggets are OK for now with the "wait and see what happens in training camp/early season" approach. If Melo gets happy and signs the extension by then, great. If not, there still will be plenty of deals available.

The longer they wait the harder it will be to trade for him.

Lets say Favors shows a lot of promise from now until January. Now the Nets shake their head on putting him in the deal. Lets say the Rockets start the first half of the season strong, now they are unwilling to break up their team.

They are going to get scraps if they wait until trade deadline compared to what they can get now. They are playing a risky game for sure, obviously the Nugs think there is some chance that he will resign.

The longer the wait, the more likely he becomes a Knick (to the point where that's the only place he'll sign the extension)... then it's bye bye picks value. I want NJ or Chicago to snatch him up so bad. But I'm afraid he's either NY bound in a trade or will just walk via Free Agency.

There are also positive possiblities: Lets say Favors really stinks it up. Does that serve as a warning sign that the NJ deal isn't so great? Knicks might fall into chaos (for example, if Amare breaks his knee again), thus turning Melo off to signing in NY. It's a risk either way, but as long as Melo is still Melo, they'll be able to get value (whatever has value at that moment) either now or, say, December. Might become more risky at the deadline, but I think waiting a couple weeks or months wouldn't hurt at the moment.

Looks like Nuggets4 was wrong all this time.

I'm kinda shocked that he is remaining a Nugget. I could have sworn he would be wearing another uniform before training camp.

I think Denver is taking the largest gamble. What if Melo tears his ACL between now and the deadline? What if he pulls a page from Vince Carter's playbook and goes at 50% so he doesn't get injured? What if he sulks though the first part of the season?

    BIG gamble for the Nuggets.

If they do the trade now, Favors and Kirilenko can also tear an ACL. Like I said, there's risk either way. You just gotta decide which ones you want to take.

I agree that the possibility of a lockout helps the Nuggets, but i'm sure his agents will tell him "Just don't sign, when we sign with NYK then you'll still get plenty of money because of endorsements blah blah blah." like the whole Lebron thing.

Also I agree that the longer this goes on, the Knicks chances improve. I'd like to think as the season goes on Melo will shorten his list. Nets could be out of the race by January realistically, and why would Melo want to go there and try to dig the team out of the hole? I guess the Nets COULD be good by then, but they have not made any sweeping changes there and they can't expect Favors to make them into a playoff team right away.

I guess the pressure increases to get something done as time goes on. If they want to trade him they should be able to get something decent back, but they have to really worry about the leverage he has in blocking a trade...unless some team will be willing to trade for him without an extension.

If Yao is back to 100%, our chance improves as well.
