Well ASidd, if its any consolation, Melo is going to the East which means one less team to worry about.

    Lakers
    OKC
    Rox
    Portland
    Utah
    Dallas
    SA
    Phx/Den/Memphis/NOLA/LAC

It's to the point where I'm fustrated as hell!

Why is Houston not a good destination anymore?

Also, I'll believe this when Melo is in another jersey.

It doesn't matter if Anthony's people are pushing a Rockets deal, unless that means he is unwilling to sign an extension.

The Nuggets are still going to take whatever they can get from the 4 teams Carmelo said he was interested in joining.

I don't think it's about the destination but the individuals.

Bosh - Wanted to play with his booty buddies.
Melo - Wants to play where his wife tells him to.

Just show patience, via a legitimate trade down the road....Morey will get his man.

So Adrian Woj - regarded by most as the best reporter in the business, along with Jonathan Feigen and most of ESPN, all report at least some interest by the Anthony camp in Houston. Now, one random CBS Sportsline writer with very minimal credibility (and no scoops, that I know of) says the opposite, and you guys all take it as fact?

I'm not saying it can't be true, but good grief. It's just one of many sources. Most of these guys will end up wrong.

Everyone is just blowing smoke to generate hits.

Whenever a player, especially a superstar like Melo, causes drama like demanding trades, every sportswriter gets a boner for this.

Because a certain 17 million dollar player can only go for up to 24 mins a night :(

I wouldnt say no credibility but Ken Berger does a good job. Even if this report isnt true, I still think we're the 4th team on the list(many of the insiders, experts, etc would say the same or rather I would agree with them) and still think it's unlikely he ends up here. Would love to have him but dont think he'll end up here. Call me a pessimistic if you will and heck, I hope I'm wrong but I don't see it.

It really doesn't say much though, i don't think anyone thought he was pushing a deal with anyone but the knicks and bulls, but there's his willingness to sign the extension at the same time.

E.g. I'd imagine he wouldn't be pushing an orlando deal, but if he got traded to orlando, think he'd sign the extension?

Yep, agree, Berger isn't bad at all. Honestly, I am very pessimistic about this whole process so I am just waiting for the bomb to drop and we end up where we started.

What has Berger really gotten right? I'm honestly curious - I don't really remember his name on the reporting scene prior to this summer. It seems he's either been second or third to the story most times, and his few "exclusives" have been sketchy at best.

I agree that it's unlikely Carmelo ends up here, simply because there are a lot of teams involved and it's hard to pin your hopes on any one single team in this situation. I'm pessimistic too, but moreso because I don't know if we can find the assets for Denver. I do believe that if a deal were worked out, Carmelo would want to sign an extension here. I don't know why everyone is so sensitive in the aftermath of Bosh, but it seems like a lot of people are looking for any sign of confirmation bias (on this whole stars not wanting to play here thing) to the point where they don't look at the full body of evidence.

Honestly, I've only gotten my hopes up just this week because of the recent info I've learned about the other teams trying to get Melo.

NJ- Working the hardest to get him but some reports say he's not willing to sign an extension with them, others are. Some say he's only willing to sign an extension if he gets to play with Lopez, but Denver wants Lopez. Favors is supposed to be the centerpiece in the trade because he fits the bill of a marketable young talent, but Coach Johnson has refuted those reports and convinced management that he's the real deal and they should not trade him.

CHI-Same as NJ in that they aren't willing to give up Noah and are currently working on an extension with him and Denver doesn't want to eat Deng's contract, so this deal must be dead. But unlike NJ, the reports have been consistent that he is willing to sign an extension with them.

NY-His and Lala's first choice and he's willing to sign an extension but Denver doesn't see any assets that are worth coveting. Also with the recent reports, they are supposedly not working hard enough to get him and can't find a third team to get some high end lotto picks because Morey raped them in Feb. Denver really wants lotto picks for the rebuilding process.

LA- They've been one of the most inconsistent teams being brought up. They've got the assets, but aren't willing to give up Griffin and they see Gordon as being untouchable. The only thing they've got going for them is that Lala approves this because of the Hollywood factor.

HOU-Some reports say he's willing to sign the extension with us, while others say he's not even interested in playing for us. Plus, Houston isn't really a large market for him. We've got what Denver wants, plus we have NY's 2012 pick. We could give them Brooks or Martin as the centerpiece, without gutting our team like many of the other teams would. We also give him the best chance of winning a title, if that is his motive to get out of Denver.

And apparently, you're their #1 victim. Look how many posts you have on this thread.

My question is, who breaks the story?

Adrian Woj? Marc Spears? Marc Stein? Ric Bucher? Chris Broussard? Alan Hahn? Steven A. Smith? One of our local guys like Marc Berman?

Maybe the Chron actually does some inside reporting and Feigan breaks the story first?

    Sadly, you are correct.

At least this isn't worst than the trade deadline last season when I literally stayed up till 5 in the morning the day of the deadline to find some sort of news.
