IF they want to pawn off one of their bad contracts then lets play...

    Anthony

    for

    Martin/Bud/Jeffries/2011 swap option/Rights to Lull

    then

    Birdman

    for

    T/E (Ariza)

    Brooks/Lowry/Smith
    Lee/Taylor
    Anthony/Battier
    Scola/Miller/Hayes/PP
    Yao/Birdman/Hill

Long, Athletic and a huge frontline

I really dont get New York. They have zilch to offer. I mean nothing practically compaired to the Rockets. Bulls i can understand if you like Noah so much? A non scoring center who is young? New Jersey makes sense if they gut their team and future... New York Zero... New Jersey some.. Chicago some if they want to give up on Noah and if thats all it takes for Denver? Rockets definately. I guess it really is Melos list and this is the order he is pushing? Which makes reverse logic for the Denver Nuggets. He wants Knicks and Bulls. They make the least sense. They want Rockets and Nets I think. Nets seem unlikely to give them everything they want. Hope they dont get nothing for him. Honestly Martins the best star you could get for him among these, the picks are almost worth the most because they are the Knicks picks and not ours, and we could offer one youth if they like. Just odd all around its playing out like this when its obvious. I dont expect it to be easy or done until close to the training camps or slightly after if its early. Might stall out and they cave for the Knicks after all and get poo on their face like Cleveland and Toronto by getting the least they could have possible. Oh well.. Thats their choice.

Not surprised that the Knicks are having a hard time getting that draft pick from a 3rd team. Everyone knows that if Melo lands in NY, Chris Paul will soon follow, and teams don't want to help the Knicks form another super-team.

As far as Denver trying to add bad contracts with Melo, teams will stand pat and Denver will lose out in the end for playing hard ball. They are going to lose Carmelo one way or another, so they better get what they can get. It's not like they are getting crap offers, they're just not getting Lopez or Noah and they have to deal with that.

I really do think Knicks are an unrealistic hard push by Carmelo and his agent solely. Nobody in Denvers front office is interested and its kind of a pipe dream in their view. They are stalling others because I think the insistance everyone has not within the best interest of Denver is pushing them on everyone. They have nothing to offer and people dont want to help them build a super trio there. To me this list needs to be paired down in reasonable expectations list. Take off Knicks and the rest are what Denver is probably really looking at while ESPN, Carmelo, LALA, agent, and New York media are trying to twist the Denver Nuggets to go the garbage offer path for the sake of appeasing. I am not sure Denver would budge? Stars have amazing power in the league these days though? I could be wrong. To me thats why Rockets will ultimately win out because they have the most reasonable offer and easiest to make perhaps.. It really is up to if Carmelo finally says ok though and says lets do the Rockets deal if you cant do my preferred location..

If they're rebuilding why does it matter?

Unfortunately me too. They have some fixation with East teams. They still have to face him twice. They just feel that that extra 2 times aginst a West team would somehow kill them as a franchise instead of the fact they got Danilo Galinari and Eddie Curry instead of Kevin Martin and New Yorks picks. Odd thinking on some teams views but this East coast West coast thing plays a serious role in the mental part of every GMs psyche. In a bad way obviously if it hinders your judgement on what a good trade is and what is bad.

Yeah, I've never understood that. It sounds like spin control for the lousy deal they know they're going to get back.

Not really. He(Feigen) didnt say Melo wouldnt sign an extension with anyone in the West. He said more likely to sign an extension with an EC team than WC teams. And what you posted wasnt a later answer. That was posted before.

In other words, old answer here

    Newer answer here:

Really, it's still speculation at this point. You got "league sources" or "sources close to Martin and/or the Rockets" saying he won't be included in such a deal. You also got "league sources" or "sources close to Martin and/or the Rockets" saying they are dangling him in talks.

You have reports/"sources" saying Melo definitely open to re-signing in Houston(if traded here), among other teams, to reports/"sources" saying Melo only open to re-signing/signing with NY to also having reports/"sources" saying only open to re-signing with NY and Chicago(if traded there).

If we can't get him, give them one of their picks back for Randolph......

Something like the TE for Randolph and in a seperate deal a pick for someone we can cut.

If it becomes clear that he really wants NY, and the Nugs are really considering it, then those picks are gonna be garbage anyway, might as well get something for them.

Yeah sure lete help them out. Give them back both picks and Hill for Wilson Chandler and Randolph. Then they could use the Knicks picks Eddie Curry and Galinari for Carmelo Anthony.
