Oooooo...scary! He was a "gamer" and he had "skillzz" and "hadda-killa-cross-ova!" and "brought IT(whatever IT means)" Scary! All that is fine. Except he was a turnover machine! Hello! And that crap kills the team over the long haul. As far as shutting up! Nah. Let Francis say what he wants. It's OUR player that need to just keep quiet. McGrady, should just prove it ON THE COURT!
In the limited playing time together on the court, the starting 5 of Ward, JJ, TMac, Juwan, and Yao have looked like more of a cohesive unit than the monstrosity that was on the court last year. As much as this team is going to deal with chemistry issues, I doubt the Rockets will have a 8 point quarter like it did last year. Dealing Francis for TMac allowed the Rockets to have two franchise players who are tradeable to the rest of the NBA if things don't go well. I had the belief that Francis was going to be a max contract albatross last year. Giving out max contracts to smaller basketball players is a recipe for financial inflexibility. Allen Iverson is virtually untradeable. Who's willing to trade for Jason Kidd? Stephon Marbury even if he wore out his welcome in New York would be almost untradeable too. The axiom "don't trade big for small" automatically intrudes. TMac is freaking tall for a SG. The Rockets will be dealing from a position of strength if the Rockets had to do a sign and trade. Kings would never trade Peja for Francis, but I think they would at least consider Peja for TMac. How bout Ray Allen? Maybe they could pry Bibby from the Kings. Francis just doesn't command that kind of market value. Francis had to go just for long-term flexibility of the franchise.
I think that you guys are reading too much into the situation. Steve is a warrior and his passion for the game is one of his more endearing qualities. Furthermore, no great player has ever listened to the coach everytime. That, in essence, is what made them great players. Jordan, Bird, Magic, Barkley, etc. Now I am not saying that you should just defy the coach at every turn, but sometimes that passion is what makes the game worthwhile. Plus, anyone can say what they would do when they are not in the same position. We've all done it before. It no big deal. All it is doing in this instance is providing for a potentially great rivalry in both the Rockets and Magic future. I hope McGrady does take it personally and step up to the challenge. Its the essence of the sport.
I still don't see, how last year nachbar was untradeable ,but people wanted to ship steve out so fast???I have no problem with him being traded if you ask me becuase I got tired of logging on here win are lose and people where bashing sf.you can tell that its hate ,because they look for any reason to bash him.when barkley was here he said some of the most stupid things I ever heard.everybody liked him though .
SF wasn't jabbing at Tmac. It was more of a show of defiance toward JVG. Whether you are SF lovers or haters, y'all should be able to understand that.
Smart players have dumb fans too. Some people are just dumb. It's OK, as long as they are good people.
I don't see what I said is eating crows. Young players will need time to mature through ups and downs. Good job at remembering my post from a long time ago. Although it's the same Francis-like good effort, poor results attempt, I salute your effort sir!
Read the thread hommie, I just saw that today. Also, nice way to clean up what you said. Just own up to the original statement.
