The Lakers thing was a joke which seems as if he fooled many at. I definitely want him on our team too if T-Mac will not be back until early 2010 and could be good insurance for Yao being out which is a reoccuring theme. If Yao's out for the start of the season, STAT at center, Scola at PF, Battier, Artest, PG??? or Yao/STAT/Battier/Artest/PG???.
I thought GS was keeping Curry? I have a decent feeling this Amare-to-GS proposal is going to hit a snag before July 8th.
via espn insider.... UPDATE: Amare to Warriors back on? Amare Stoudemire | Suns Sources have told Ric Bucher that the much-discussed trade between the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns for Amare Soudemire may be heating up once again. As tweeted by Bucher: "Sources are mixed on if Amare-to-GS still happens. My hunch is yes because Nelly wants him and Phx wants to move on." Earlier reports from the San Jose Mercury News Tuesday that Stoudemire had now interest in joining the Warriors or signing an extension with the team. As for Amare saying he wouldn't re-sign w/GS: Phx source says Amare changes his mind every 10 min. Source not putting much stock in that. http://twitter.com/RicBucher/status/2501634607
Personally, I think GSW's offer (even sans Steph Curry) is far superior to anything the Suns could possibly get for Amare from another team. Biedrins and Wright are two super-athletic young big men who could be critical components on a rebuilding Phoenix team. Plus, Bellineli is no slouch.
I couldn't agree more. I actually think the Rockets should get in on this if the Suns don't want that young talent. If the Rockets got Biedrins, Wright, and Bellineli, we would be the youngest team in the NBA with alot of talent and possibly some cap space and a lotto pick coming.
I couldn't understand why Amare supposedly had zero interest in going there. Nellie-ball is tailor-made for him to put up great stats and the bay area isn't the worst place to live for a very wealthy person.
If the Rockets got Biedrins, it would lose pretty much any hope of having cap space. Still, he'd be a great young center to rebuild with if Yao isn't coming back. Even if Yao does return, Biedrins could back him up. Plus, he might be athletic enough to perhaps even play PF next to Yao in a "Twin Towers" lineup.
If you were the Rockets GM, would you try to be a third team in the GS - Suns trade to obtain Biedrins or would you wait for Cap Space in the future?
To hell with cap space then. I took a close look at Biedrins stats and what I found was that when he plays 35+ mins a game, he's 15.3ppg, 15.1rbpg 1.5blkpg and 2.85 dimes a game. All while shooting at around 57%. In his bio it states in 30 games where he played 30 mins per game, he was at 13 and 13. This guy is 22 yrs old!! Wright and Bellinelli are producing at very good rates per minute also and they are 21 or 22 yrs old. I say get this done and let's be patient and watch all these young guys grow together.
Being the third team in this trade would be good. It would net the team a center however the best case scenario is still a straight up trade with the Suns for Amare. Having Amare with the present line up would guarantee a playoff spot with or without Yao. If it does not work with Amare, They can choose not to sign him next year and go for Bosh. The important thing is not to waste a season.
Mummywrap is sick and tired of injury prone players. He wouldn't want Amare, Biedrins is younger and cheaper and hasn't had a major injury, besides his appendix. Mummywrap believes your center needs to get rebounds, blocks, and be effecient rather than be the main scoring option. The NBA isn't a big man's game anymore.
It could just be a one year rental. If it does not work out with Amare for whatever reason then They can choose not to sign him and go for another free agent next year. The important thing is to get a center as soon as possible and not give up on this season.
