I'm confused as to whether Curry is included in the deal or not. Read somewhere that the deal was hung up over the inclusion of Curry.
He didn't really say that, and I don't really think Kenny Smith is an insider. I think he just said what he said because of what he has heard just like me and you... it's not a done deal by any means.
According to RicBucher's Tweet. "For those who didn't watch the telecast - all freakin' 84 hours - the Amare trade is expected to get done after July 8, when FA period opens" So Amare Trade is Official... Ric Bucher is always right most of the time.
It's interesting that it still doesn't sound completely official, just that it's "expected" to get done after July 8. Last year when we got Artest, even though we had to wait to make it official, everyone was reporting it like it had already happened.
It isn't a done deal because GS is not willing to give up Randolf or Curry. Phx wants one of them included in the deal. If a better (Rockets) deal comes along, who knows. KEEP HOPE ALIVE!
If this is true then GREAT!!!!! There is still a chance to address the problem of needing to get bigger this off season.
While I'm inclined to believe it's going to happen, I wouldn't call a Bucher tweet a formal announcement. Nothing is official yet.
Why does GS want Amare so much? It's more likely that Amare is going to opt out after one year of play. GS is going to trade 4 players for that?
I just don't understand what Phoenix is doing anymore. Are they making this deal because they felt the heat coming from their fans after they dealt Shaq for absolutely nothing? So instead of sticking with the "salary dumping" plan they had in place, they decide to switch gears, and go after Biedrins, who doesn't save them any money in the long-term AT ALL? The Suns are quickly becoming one of the most mis-managed teams in the NBA....and with teams like the Clippers and Grizzlies around, that's quite an accomplishment.
Sorry for the double post, but that's the other thing I don't get about this trade! Why on Earth is Golden State so hell-bent on getting a player who, FOR SURE, will not re-sign with them in a year? Do they HONESTLY believe that Amare is the missing piece to their championship puzzle?? I know Don Nelson has pretty much gone senile the last 2 years, but come on.....did he feel like Biedrins played too much defense to be a member of that team? If they end up giving up Curry in this deal, I will officially declare myself a better GM than probably 75% of the league.
Exactly. Amare is not going to stay with the Warriors. They will be losing a lot of good young talent for a one-year rental.
This trade isn't going to happen. It's too lopsided in favor of PHX. I still think the Rockets have the best offer.
I'm pretty sure they would re-sign him after the trade or get assurance that he would re-sign with them.
I hate citing twitter, but Yahoo sports just tweeted: "A source involved in the Amare-GState discussions tells Woj no deal is close, and doubts that PHX will pursue with GS wanting to keep Curry" http://twitter.com/YahooSportsNBA Again, take it for what it is, but it is interesting nonetheless
Don't think that GS will agree to this new Suns demand for Curry. He isn't a true PG and needs to improve a lot with his passing, but that's too much to give for Amare.
Couple of articles I found making the rounds on the RealGM Suns board updating this story. Source: http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/2009/06/26/20090626spt-warriors.html Source: http://www.ibabuzz.com/warriors/ Source:
It's happening. Now what's news/being discussed is whether Curry is going to Phoenix? STAT's Twitter: Breaking News!! Amar'e Stoudemire to Golden State. What do you think? http://twitter.com/amareisreal
Do you think he is telling the truth? Dont you think it'd be on one of the major sports news network a la ESPN or even Yahoo, or even NBA.com as breaking news?!
