that is an interesting trade, but i don't see the hawks wanting to add Amare when they already have a solid PF in horford and I dont think horford or amare want to playe center
I would not trade Yao for Amare and neither would the Rockets management. I would not trade TMac for Amare but the Rockets may consider that. I would trade Artest for Amare but I don't think the Suns would take that. I highly value Amare's ability as a scorer. In fact I would put him in the top five best scorers in the NBA. He has no weakness in his offensive game -- explosive in the paint, shoots well from the mid-range, and an 80% FT shooter. Amare is also an underrated passer, especially form the high post area. That said, Amare has shown that he is (1) injury-prone (for those who think Amare is less injury-prone than Yao I don't know where you got the idea). Amare has missed as many games in his career as Yao. (2) disinterested in playing defense -- there are those who can't play defense and those who refuse to play defense. Amare is the later, which is more troubling. (3) not a team player and cares more about his socring than his team's win/loss record. The fact that the Suns are willing to trade Amare before a 34-year-old Nash shows you that even the team that drafted him does not consider him a franchise player. Realistically, I think that if Amare would get traded, it probably would be to the East. The team that really could use Amare and may have the pieces to get him is the Chicago Bulls.
Amare for Artest, Landry and Luther Head would be a good deal imo. Why would you not want a PF like Amare who could also slot in at the C so Yao could rest?? We also get rid of Luther and Artest who isnt fitting in. Clears up mins for Wafer and Brent Barry to play. Yao, Amare Tmac would be pretty nasty frontline!!
The fact that people really think that Phoenix would trade Amare to the Rockets(a team who are they competing with for a playoff spot) is mind boggling.
Well the problem with that kind of thinking is that you are assuming Sarver has the Suns well-being in mind. All he's after is the cash, hence the reason why the Suns kept on trading away all their assets over the years. Artest is expiring and would solve all his monetary problems. Hell, I'd even throw in Battier if they give us Grant Hill as well.
Ron's contract is only worth 8.4 M. They can certainly get a bigger expiring contract than that. I'm not in favor with having Amare on the Rockets but I do understand the need to improve the team.
The Grizzlies were at the bottom of the league and Gasol's trade value had bottomed off. Amare isn't coming to the Rockets. People are so desperate for change they forget to use logic. 1. Phoenix - 8th in the West, Rockets - 6th. Conference Rivals approaching palyoffs... definitely not a Gasol or Scola type situation. 2. Amare has been complaining about his touches and being in the scheme of the offense with Shaq, who has a similar presence to Yao on the floor 3. Amare is the Allen Iverson of PF's (his play doesn't correlate to winning, won't go over well with Morey) However I would like to see an offensive juggernaut on this team since a premier PG isn't on the market (Billups for TMac would have been great). McGrady is a fragment of his old self, Yao has struggled to consistently dominate in Adelman's system, and everyone else relies on good chemistry and ball movement to get points. Artest is going to be very valuable in the playoffs with his ability to shut down premier isolation players. I would put Battier and Landry on the market in return for someone like John Salmons who can play the point.
Memphis had no shot at the playoffs. Phoenix and Houston are seperated by like 2 games. 11 pages of worthless talk in the GARM of a trade that has no chance of happening.
If he is after cash his main priority will still be to trade Amare to the Eastern Conference or to a Western Conference team with no chance of making the playoffs.
