    Houston Texans (1-7)
    Grade: F

The only good news is that Houston isn't still winless and there have been some faint signs of life the last few weeks. David Carr has to take some of the blame, but the offensive line has once again been awful, allowing a mind-boggling 43 sacks. The defense doesn't seem to have a lick of chemistry and may have to be gutted by the next coach.

Second-half improvements: Where do we begin? Getting Carr and Andre Johnson back on track is the top priority right now. Both of those players will eat a significant amount of cap space next season, so the Texans need to be sure they still have two cornerstones.

Thought I would our bitter rivals in this also....

    Dallas Cowboys (5-3)
    Grade: B+

Surprisingly, the offense has been outstanding. It was assumed that Drew Bledsoe would step in and be more of a caretaker who makes one or two big plays a game. Instead, he and Terry Glenn energized a passing game that led to production spikes from Jason Witten and Keyshawn Johnson. And despite the injuries to Julius Jones, the tailback spot has kept grinding along with Marion Barber. The unit will only get better when Jones comes back healthy. The six-man defensive line rotation will keep the stingy run defense fresh the rest of the season.

Second-half improvements: Bledsoe and the vertical passing game have floundered a bit the last few games. When and if Patrick Crayton returns, the Cowboys shouldn't be afraid to open the offense up a bit more.

what's wrong with the cowboys getting a B+....that's about right, i'd give them a "B" because their offense has sputtered lately and has been pretty inconsistent. however, their defense has been excellent minus the first 2 weeks, i believe they're #5 in the NFL in total D.

on the other hand...if the texans could get worse than an "F" that's what they should get. they have been flat out awful. there has been improvement over the last couple of games, which is nice to see but they still are a joke. bring on reggie bush....and a new o-line.
