These YA (Young Adult) book adaptations are all looking the same now. Summit (Twilight/Hunger Games) is the studio flooding the multiplexes with them. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/sutgWjz10sM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
The books weren't bad. I read Divergent, Insurgent and just read the last one Allegient a couple of days ago. Definitely going to check the movie out.
Can't speak for the movies, but I've read both the Hunger Games trilogy and the Divergent trilogy, and don't think they are the same other than a young female lead and hitting on themes that are common for the entire genre of dystopian future-based YA books. I will say that the books are page-turners and should make very good movies.
Read the first two books. Pretty solid series. The problem with turning series like Divergent and Hunger Games into movies is that the main characters are really boring if you don't know what's going on inside their heads.
I heard from a couple of people (and reviews online) that the third book was completely awful. Is that true?
I thought it was good. Didn't care for the ending, but that was mainly because it didn't end how I wanted it to as many of these dystopian fiction series tend to do. I guess they see this as part of the intrigue and appeal...I don't know. It started slow no doubt, but I didn't regret reading it when done. I mean, if you've read the first two, you HAVE to see how it ends right?
