This trade is better than all those complicated trades i came up with, but were still possible to make. Why not just blow off the other five teams screw them. This deal is still better than Bynum and we get to keep 'both' Landry and Brooks. Maybe we should consider taking back Calderon since rumor has it Toronto would be able to swap him for Kevin Martin straight up. Something along the lines of the mentioned above plus Ariza and Andersen for Calderon. Then at the end of the season trade him for Kevin Martin.

    """"""Calderon
    11. Jose Calderon, PG, Raptors
Calderon was considered a gem just a year ago, but he struggled out of the gate this season, and the Raptors have played much better without him. Now that he's back from injury, you can expect the Raptors to shop him around. They could really use some help at the 2-guard position. DeMar DeRozan is a nice prospect, but he's not ready yet.

There have been rumblings of a Calderon-Kevin Martin swap. The move would give the Raptors a lot of offensive firepower, but it would also cement their status as one of the worst defensive teams ever.""""""""""

I'd do it still, because we are going to lose Lowry at some point anyways.

Young would be a nice fit with Yao, Athletic and good shooting range

pretty much what ive said for awhile now. The guy next to yao needs to be a camby type or a tim thomas type. Earlier this season someone mentioned yi. They way he is playing and his skillset, thats the type. Charlie V,Yi kind of guy.

Yi is a advanced Vlade Divac much more athlectic i think he can be utilized the same way i was watching videos of him he is not a post player and dont belong in the post, but if he did develop everything else like Divac like passing skills etc.. he'd be better off. I watch him he works too hard to get his shot when he don't need to work as hard he just needs to toon his game some. He is actually better off from 15-18 feet from the basket, but all he needs to do is set screens/picks and catch and shoot off screens. The only time he needs to be aggressive is when 'five' is in the shot clock. I see him over work. If he had the passing skills like Divac he'd be alot better. Nobody will leave him open and he wont need to move much to score with Yao on the floor or a Bosh. He is a up-tempo type player who is best suited in the high-post and beyond. He is a plus to have because he can lure 4's and 5's away from the basket.

I think we have Yi already on the team. His name is David Andersen.

You do realize Dalembert could be in a state of emotional distress due to the issue on the news everyday? I think just that fact alone can make for a very shaky player for years to come unless somehow Haiti gets back on their feet miraculously. And this is far worst than the position they were in before so don't compare.

If the rockets could somehow pry away Speights from Philly, that would be a huge huge coup. That kid has got all the tools, he will be much better than Landry is at them moment and he's got natural size. Would love to see the rockets get him, but I don't think Philly would be that stupid.

Given Scolandry's success and strength at the PF position, I'm just going to assume Morey is looking to acquire a suitable backup center that can both play heavy minutes right now and backup Yao next year. This is something that i've been begging and pleading for for about the past two years. Like or not, Yao's durability forces us into position where we absolutely have to try to safeguard ourselves and minimize the damage in the event that he goes down again. Gone are these days of "Find your star(s), build around them, find role players that complement them and hope everybody stays healthy". IN, are the days of amassing young, versatile and dynamic talent that can adapt to any injury or situation -- this is precisely the type of movement that Morey has brought in since he took over. It also helps explain our success last year in playoffs and proves that this year is no fluke.

That said, adding a Gortat-like player that is definitely something that could help us. Not necessarily THAT exact move, but a move that upgrades the center position and eliminates the elephant in the room of us starting a 6'6" center. He could start and upgrade the position this year while giving Yao a steady backup next year (and is also capable of sliding over to the four too). Again, not necessarily saying that we HAVE to get Gortat, but a move of this caliber could help us equally as much as finding a temporary or permanent solution to the big boat of suck known as Battriza, IMO.

Let's bring back Kelvin Cato! On a serious note, I always thought he and Yao made a great defensive pair and on offense we can just run pick and rolls with Yao. With Cato on the weakside, if his man comes over to help he'll have a wide open monster dunk.

Good post. But does that mean you have no faith in Andersen being the answer for the backup center spot?

Not really. Andersen is like a 6'11" version of Juwan Howard to me. He can get his own shot but he only rebounds if the ball bounces right to him, lacks poor fundamentals (boxing out, defensively), shies away from contact and is just overall not much of a presence around the basket.

Don't get me wrong, I like him as a player. He's decent. I just fear between his shortcomings and the fact that he's already like 30-years-old, that it doesn't leave much left in the way of upside.

Fair assessment, but Andersen (with Hayes) will be asked to play 8 to 10 minutes max next season when Scolandry and Yao are all in the rotation. Despite his limitations, he isn't bad for such a role. And Andersen and Hayes have shown this season that they can at least hold down the fort if Yao is out for a short period.

If Morey can get a Gortat-like player you describe for a similar contract as Andersen's, that's another story. Otherwise, it may end up costing too much.

    Just get Iggy!!
    Maybe a TMAC/Lowry/draft pick for
    Dalembert/Iggy

If that adds up right, not sure if it does or not!

If we can make that trade while keeping Scola and Shane then DO IT!
