"However, sources with knowledge of the talk say the Rockets have received multiple offers for McGrady that they have deemed better than the Knicks'. A source said that Jeffries -- who is owed $6.9 million next season with a $2 million trade kicker -- is a major sticking point for Houston's front office."

    From the SI Article.
This is just great haha. We'll see how this turns out.

After reading this I now know that it was someone in the Knicks org that leaked this misinformed bs. They know that we have better offers for T-Mac and are scared to death that he might not be on the Knicks. There was something fishy about that proposed trade, why would Morey take on Jeffries contract? It would effectively end our chances of aquiring someone like Bosh or Johnson, who I might add, Morey coveted since day one.

I wonder which teams are involved? It could just be Morey's little trick to try get more picks from New York.

He will be an impact player. Maybe not the 23+,5,5 but so many teams can use his playmaking skills at the 2 or 3 position.

i see tmac will be traded though when the deadline passes. NY may not be the destination, but tmac will be gone.

Win/Win for us. NY is the one with pressure to move some bad contracts.

I could see something like that happening as well.

All hate aside, I just honestly believe that McGrady has lost too much mobility and that playing nearly a decade and a half in this league on a crooked spine has taken it's toll.

He was an exceptional player... 7 or 8 years ago.

He'll never come close to that again. I don't think he can even be an impactful player off the bench.

If you've watched him closely over the past several years, it should be obvious that his body is falling apart. He lost his mobility long before the microfracture surgery.

He can't take the ball to the basket more than once a game anymore and it's uncomfortable to watch how hard it is for him to get around a defender because he no longer has that first step.

He no longer commands double teams and doesn't play hard off the ball. He's as slow as molasses moving laterally (again, even before the latest surgery).

His only asset at this point is that he can shoot Brian Cook-esque line drives over defenders. Without the need to double him, his passing is not as much of a threat and although he's always been touted for his passing skills, he's nowhere near a Chris Paul or Steve Nash. He's just good at it for his position but it's not nearly as much of a weapons sans the double teams.

I agree...sometimes you have to know when to fold'em.

If NYK offered the proposed deal, Morey should have taken it. Before some other team sweeps in the way...

Yeah but it may not be the best available deal. If it is then I would have jumped on it as opposed to waiting things out

    Hmmm ...

What might Cleveland be willing to give up in exchange for Jamison, if they are desperate to appease LeBron?

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yh64s58

Houston gets: Mike Miller, Delonte West, Andersen Varejao
    Cleveland gets: Jamison
    Washington gets: McGrady

Varejao is one of the best front court defenders in the league and would fit the Rockets style very well. West isn't a star, but he's a solid all-around offensive player who can handle the ball, shoot the three, shoot off the dribble, and even post up some.
