Ok so this has probably already been discussed and while i have been keeping up with the thread to an extent, i have no interest in reading 50 pages of 'i like it' and 'this is awwwful...'

    So here are my issues...
Jared Jeffries is clearly the worst part of the deal, but 6.5ish for a 6'11" guy who actually plays defense isn't the worst thing ever given the fact that Yao, even IF he can start next year, almsot definitely won't be what he was or play nearly the minutes of a normal starter. Then they either throw in Harrington or Hughes...Harrington might actually be the polar opposite of Chuck Hayes, not necessarily good or bad. hughes is at least a 6'5" SG which isn't really something we have but not really sure he is any good at this point either. Basically I would rather see Harrington just because i think his potential is better in this offense, but i really dont care either way between the 2. The BIG piece we are getting is this Jordan Hill rookie and then the pick(s). So Jordan Hill is a 6'10" PF...to match with Landry and Scola? Obviously this makes sense down the road since the chances of resigning Scola AND landry are probably not that great. My question is if I look at this team right now I say that PF is probably our strongest position, so is this trade solely for next year and on, or is it possible we are working out another trade involving scola or landry or even both before they expire and we risk losing them? I'm not really opposed to either situation just more curious as to what you guys think might happen.

And we all know how good Morey is with 2nd rounders. Actually I see him packaging our first and second or possibly both second rounders to move up and select a good back up center, something we haven't had for a while (Mutombo did good but got way too old). Or if we move up far enough we could get a real SG, but this draft is heavier on the big guys, so I see that as a more realistic option.

The Rockets don't have their own second rounder this year. They traded it to Minnesota a couple of years ago to dump Kirk Snyder's salary and avoid the luxury tax.

Still, they may look to package that pick (which could be anywhere from #37 to #41, or so) with their first rounder to move up. More likely, they could wait and see who unexpectedly falls into the second round (a la Dejuan Blair or Chase Budinger) and find a team desperate to take that player. It could net the Rockets a future first or multiple future second rounders, plus cash.

Or they could take an international prospect with the pick. I just don't see there being multiple roster sports available for rookies next season.

Oh your right, my mistake. Yea I dont see more than one rookie getting any playing time next year. I'm in favor of trading up and getting a solid C but an international pick might not be bad if we stay with our second rounder.

JA Adande reporting on the Disney network that the Rockets are the ones waiting to see if there is more than the Knick deal out there

Staff members always are high on a nag. They want to peddle him if possible before he turns to being "glue" since he can't do much else. Have you seen him try to dribble with his left hand or drive left? He gets stripped every time or herded out of the action.

LOL ... I bet that's what he's hearing from the Rockets side.

Both the Rockets and Knicks are playing hard to get. Rockets are trying to pressure the Knicks into accept the deal on the table before they trade McGrady elsewhere, and the Knicks are hoping to get the Rockets to ease up on their demands.

This probably won't get settled until Thursday, but if another legitimate trade opportunity surfaces the Knicks may relent sooner (thus giving the Rocket a little time to make a follow up trade).

Durvasa, its more than likely going to go down the final hour. Its probably a who blinks first type of scenario. Lots of fun though.

    from Chris Mannix of SI

Spent the morning checking out Knicks/McGrady-multiple sources confirm Knicks very much in the mix, have been pushing hard. No. 1 priority.

However, sources warn that the Rockets have multiple offers on the table that they like better and that NY remains a longshot.

I'm starting to wonder what's going on now. J Feigan says a blog is coming up shortly, just read it in the comment section. Sorry I didn't post it, but he says there are talks with Chicago and a three team trade talked about with the Suns. So i'm starting to question everything

Worst case scenario is that the Rockets are bluffing, and the Knicks find another team to offload Jeffries's or Curry's contract.

This seems like a pretty accurate assessment. I really think Morey plans to make a second trade if he has time. This deal would give us a serious glut of power forwards and doesn't really help us that much now or next season, and we know that he wants to add a significant piece.

Sure, that could wait until the off-season, but I'm betting he'd prefer to do it now if he can get a good deal.

I will be interested to see whether Jeffries, Hill, Hughes, Harrington and Dorsey see game action tonight. My guess is that Harrington and Jeffries will.

With J Feigan's comments in the Utah pre game report it seems as though there is so much more going on. Typical Morey, something we havn't heard about maybe. So i'm not convinced NY deal gets done yet

    probably dorsey too.

he's been playing well, so no need to take him out of the lineup. especially against a god rebounding team like utah. can't hurt to showcase him either, maybe lower their asking price from our first round pick to a future first round pick.
