I think we're all missing the best news all day.

"One of the hang-ups in the deal, sources said, could be the Knicks’ inclusion of either Harrington or Hughes. There are slight variations of the trade that would change depending on which of the two veteran Knicks’ expiring contracts are included. With Harrington over Hughes in the deal, the Rockets wouldn’t need to include Cook."

Well, that scenario would mean only one 1st rounder because the Rockets wouldn't swap in 2011 if the Knicks were great. So worst case (without a Knicks 2nd rd sweetner) would be Al Harrington/Larry Hughes expires and signs elsewhere this off-season with now value in return via SnT, a low 1st rounder in 2012 (3 drafts from now), Jordan Hill busting and Jarred Jeffries sucking.

Best case scenario is Knicks continue a decade of suck, which means big swap into the lottory in 2011, 2012 1st rounder, a 2nd rounder, Al Harrington/Hughes being part of the future or SnT'd as part of a package this off-season, Jordan Hill panning out or traded for value, and Jeffries contributing or being packaged/traded for value.

Our defense would be **** with Harrington down low next to Scola or Landry. It seems like we should be able to flip Harrington to a team that could use him for the stretch run off the bench.

With the last 2 low 1st round picks Morey had, he flipped one for Ron Artest and he drafted Aaron Brooks.

So, yeah, it could still be worth it.

    This.

Al can also take the opposing 5 out of the paint, since he can shoot from the outside.

Meaning Lowry/Brooks will have an easy time penetrating.

Moral of this story? Al Harrington is the best wingman in the world. ;)

Hate to say it, but Bosh is not going anywhere, least of all Houston...

Getting NY's 2011 draft pick for the Rockets 2011 draft is worth it. Rockets will be 1st round fodder again.

Gotta be Harrington. Pretty sure there were reports out there(sorry, no links offhand) that Harrington would be included in any [McGrady] trade. Don't quote me on that, but am pretty sure.

Can the option to switch picks with a team be traded? I'm not familiar enough with the CBA, but I think it's an interesting question.

I like the trade because Morey and the scouts do well with picks. NY's 2011 (swap) and 2012 pick with a possible 2nd rounder as well. Throw in a lotto pick from last year and that is enough to eat a 6.9 million for 1 more year. Jeffries is really not that bad. Not great but not bad. I think he knows his limits unlike some <cough>Ariza</cough>. I'd take Harrington over Hughes though.

Stevierebel - And it would be nice to get some cleanup done before the buzzer goes off. If not, next summer should be interesting. Not big players but we can resign who we've got and pick up another MLE player.

Meh at best. Weak at worst.

Jeffries just for Hill and Harrington/Hughes as the expiring guys?

I figured we could do better, but if we can't oh well.

If NY actually makes the playoffs then this isn't that good of a deal. And if they are able to pick up big names this summer then chances are that they will not have good draft spots available.

    Ouch

Don't forget the rockets sucking this year and getting a 2010 lottery pick as well...
Looks like medium/high risk and high reward type of trade.

Playing around with the trade machine and observing that T-Mac +Cook +Dorsey for Harrington + Hill+ Jeffries doesn't work, but substituting in Hughes for Harrington or not trading Cook will work instead.

With all those draft picks, I think it's fine. Even in the worst case scenario of New York actually becoming good if Lebron or Wade or whomever shows up there, they will still be late first round draft picks, and Morey has made good results out of those things. If they become lottery picks, even better. I guess it's not a bad deal, and I'll take it.

Why is this the best news of the day? We might get to keep Cook?

If this trade goes down, we won't be able to judge how good it is for several years. If it turns out that we get two good lottery picks out of this, and those picks turn out to be good players, then this trade could turn out to be fantastic for the Rockets.
