I don't think that's true. You can't trade two future consecutive picks. Since last year's draft has passed, we can trade this year's.

While that trade kicker is not very palatable, I'm guessing that the Knicks will be throwing enough cash into the deal to cover the payment for the Rockets. Plus, Jeffries's cap figure will only be increased by $970k this season (either iteration of the trade STILL gets the Rockets under the luxury tax threshold, even after counting the trade kicker) and $1.03M next season (still allowing the Rockets to re-sign Scola and Lowry and still use the MLE without likely going over the luxury tax threshold).

    Not a deal breaker.

For the last time, teams cannot trade consecutive FUTURE picks such that they have no first rounder in consecutive FUTURE drafts. The second a team's pick is made in one draft, they can draft next year's pick. Also, a team can trade as many consecutive future picks as they want, as long as they also own someone else's pick in every other future draft. Hence, the Rockets' ability to SWAP 2011 first rounders with New York.

Bima, i look at it this way. Curry has been a more productive player than jeffries. Centers who can score on the blocks are more of a rare breed than a guy like jeffries, whom i like. According to the info we're getting, it seems the rockets are willing to take a contract that expires after next season. So i think if both are healthy and they both have this yr plus one, curry has the potential to drive up a higher trade value. Do i think he's a sub par rebounder? Yes, but if you think about his potential return to a legit low post scorer on a team like the rockets makes more sense than adding harrington or jeffries. Curry plays a position of need right now and will probably produce at a good rate. This summer, his value would be pretty high. Thats why i'm saying curry seem to be a better option. Curry, hughes, and hill for mcgrady and whomever makes as much sense to me as anything from the knicks. The rockets would get a sg who can also run pg which allows brooks to play off the ball without comprmising size and curry is the low block center.

Every minute Larry Hughes plays for this team would be another minute of fail.

    (1) Your proposal doesn't get the Rockets under the luxury tax this season.

    (2) Curry has NOT been the more productive player over Jeffries the past couple of years. Jeffries production ON DEFENSE has vastly outpaced Curry's overall production.

    (3) The Rockets lose their ability to use their MLE if they take on Curry's $11.2M salary for 2010-11. Frankly, they could probably get another 7-footer with that money who can help the team more than Curry can.

    (4) Curry's high salary may also possibly cost the Rockets Luis Scola. No way I risk that.

    (5) Curry would NOT crack Adelman's rotation. The Rockets are better off playing Chuck Hayes and Luis Scola at center for the full 48 minutes over using that waste of space.

If we do this deal, then i'm praying that Amare goes to Miami and keeps Wade there, while the Cavs get either Jamison/Murphy and win it all to keep Lebron over there.

Then the Knicks end up with Rudy Gay and Carlos Boozer!

Why in the world do the Knicks think they can propose whatever they want? Trying to get us to take on Jeffries' contract? Giving us Larry Hughes, of all people, seriously? Even being reluctant to give us Jordan Hill, who, honestly, I'm not even that high on.

The Knicks DO realize we can just simply let McGrady expire than hear more of their god-awful proposals? If anything, if they want McGrady as bad as they say they do, they should compromise less and accept whatever we give them more.

Try not to post again. You are killing the buzz. The only "bad" contract would be Curry.

Rudy Gay might be a player that Morey is targeting with the cap space he could have available. Not enough for a max contract, but enough for right below that.

Well bima, this isnt the first time we've disagreed and it probably wont be the last. Noticed i said if healthy which places the onus on the doctors in houston. If he's healthy and not playing because of dantoni, curry is a very productive low post scorer. If healthy, i think its foolish to say he would crack the rotation. He can get a high quality shot without help which puts him at a higher value level than jeffries. Curry at his best is a top 10 low post scorer, period. Now i would be lying if i told you he's in top form, but personally on this size deprived, offensively challenged team, curry makes more sense. Curry, hughes, and hill = 25.5m if i'm correct. Mcgrady and cook=26.5m.If the rockets throw in taylor and dorsey, thats another 1.6m. In the offseason, the rockets will still have first match on scola and the mle. If the rockets are setting up this blockbuster with these fnal yr contracts, a big minute playing, offensively producing curry will bring back more than jeffries.

The New York Knicks are so desperate to have the most possible cap room this summer to go after two top-flight free agents that they are willing to trade rookie Jordan Hill and future draft picks to get it done.

The Knicks are getting close to a deal with Houston that would bring Tracy McGrady and his $22 million expiring contract to New York. The Knicks are willing to give up Hill and future picks to entice the Rockets to include Jared Jeffries in the deal. Jeffries will make $6.9 million in 2010-11.

"We've made progress," a source involved in the talks told the New York Post yesterday.

    From today.

he's a fat lazy sack that plays no "d" and had one productive offensive season. he'd kill our future flexibility, which even though you don't care about, does make a difference to those with a brain, and would elevate Cato to Hakeem status.
