Time flies : Al Harrington is going to be 30 tomorrow. For some reason I thought he was younger than that.

the knicks fans who are pissed b/c they want to make sure the cap space will actually lead to signing that big free agent (and they're all hoping it's lebron or wade). they just don't want cap space just to have cap space, which is understandable.

but those who like it say with cap space, with walsh, the knicks will be a playoff team next year, so those picks will be late first round picks anyways.

it's both ends of the spectrum for knicks fans.

McGrady is washed up. Finished. Kaput.

He's lost his mobility, his first step and his body is breaking down. It's been breaking down for years. He'll never return to form. He's been in the league for almost a decade and a half and has a crooked spine and multiple other physical issues.

Kyle Lowry could lock him down with one hand behind his back this season or next season or the one after that if McGrady somehow manages to limp around the league for another year or two.

I look forward to facing him. He's an easy cover at this point. No need to double him. His passing is good but he's no Steve Nash and he plays a stationary game. There's no way he lasts in an uptempo offense if he lasts at all.

I wish it was spring training because that would distract them.

To be honest, I don't think they get Wade OR LeBron. I want the picks could care less about Hill.

Same; I'm anxious. What made you think that? Harrington has been around forever, I figured he'd be older than that myself.

lebron is staying in cleveland no matter what he says. that is his hometown and i think that means something to him. and it's not like cleveland is that far away from winning.

i think the knicks do have a shot at wade (either NY or bulls). i mean, miami doesn't even pack half of the arena on most nights, and they have a legit superstar.

and NY does have a legit shot at bosh and amare. amare has gone on record saying he wants to play in NY (and he will be the main guy in NY).

i think NY will be at least a playoff team next year with all that cap-space. but they're not getting lebron, no team is.

    Lets make it a foursome

    Miami gets Amare, Harrington
They loose Beasely but get their man Amare and a decent backup in Harrington and get out of Oneals contract.

Pheonix get Jordan Hill, Scola, Battier

Loose Amare but get a young full of potential recent #8 overall pick in Hill, a future unprotected first round pick and two solid veteran leaders in Scola and Battier. Hill can learn behind Scola for the rest of the year and they will have Scolas Bird rights at the end of the year.

Houston gets Beasley, Jared Jeffries and take on Jermaine O'Neal big contract that expires at end of year and NY 2112 first round pick.
Jeffries replaces Battier's defense in situations that call for it. Landry and Beasley battle it out for the starter and Oneals huge expiring contract.

N Y gets TMac and some trash. Hey its what they want!

We replace TMacs contract with a bigger one that expires at the end of the year. This gives us more money to resign Lowrey and a solid FA.

We replace Scola with a younger better player which gives us an extremely athletic rotation of players to put around Yoa.

    Jeffries replaces Battiers defense.

We get younger, more atletic and further under the cap next year than we currently would be and to top it off we get a very possible future lottery pick.

I like it better than what is currenty being thrown around.

if we get Harrington, Hill, Jeffries, our lineup will look like this next year

    Yao / Hill / Hayes / Anderson
    Scola / Harrington / Landry
    Battier / Budinger / Jeffries
    Ariza / Taylor
    Brooks / Lowry

we definitely get another scorer in Harrington, a young player with potential in Hill, who was supposed to be a top 5 pick in that draft, many mock drafts had him as the best PF in that draft.

now, this is good and bad.

we are loaded at the PF, but we don't have any perimeter players who can score except Brooks. we have no one that can create except Brooks and Lowry.

we are gonna have to draft or sign a SG and trade one of our PF's for a legit PG and a SG.

i like this trade, but we're just top heavy now with no one creating open shots.

With so many big men on the squad, I could definitely see Morey turning around and making a second trade with that Harrington expiring contract.

In football, there is the old saying that it's better to have a football player that runs track than a track runner who plays football. With Jordan Hill, I can't but help get the feeling that we are getting the track runner. Toney Douglas is the basketball player we need to be going after.
