typo. He was traded a 1 month after the 2008 draft. Once a player is drafted, they don't count as a future draft pick.

We traded our 2009 pick as well in that trade! Do you remember not having a pick in the first round last year? I think you're confused right now.

We do not have problem to resign Scola or Lowry but just see if Morey want...

Wouldnt it be funny if the Warriors or Sixers called up and dropped this deal in the dirt with a trump deal? And then as the dealmaker, Morey gets them to agree not to buy out McGrady until after playoff roster deadline?

Genius? Um let's not jump the gun here. The Knicks were obviously a last option and theres nobody in the trade that u can really qualify as the "up and coming" star morey promised. Its a average trade, but a welcome change for a slumping team with dead legs goin into the break.

I don't care. The Rockets can still trade their 2010 draft pick.

    2009 was in the past.

    Let's change the dates.

This rule applies only to future first round picks. For example, if this is the 09-10 season, then teams can trade their 2010 first round pick without regard to whether they had a 2009 pick, since their 2009 pick is no longer a future pick. But they can't trade away both their 2010 and 2011 picks, since both are future picks. Teams sometimes work around this rule by trading first round picks in alternate years.

fwiw: Mark Berman said sources tell him they are having discussions with the Knicks(didnt mention any exact proposals) and also said they are having discussions with other teams about McGrady.

Sorry but this would suck IMO.
I would get a star player now, not some picks and some unproved rookie.

    Code:
    players 2010 salary
    Yao 17.7
    Battier 7.3
    Jeffries 6.9
    Ariza 6.3
    Landry 3
    Andersen 2.5
    Brooks 2
    draft 2
    total 47.7

The Rockets will be close to 20 million under the luxury tax line, and maybe 5 million under the salary cap. They should be able to bring back Scola, Lowry, Hayes and another MLE player if they so choose. But I expect them to aggressively look for a trade. They need an impact scorer on the team, and its unlikely they'll find one for mid-level money.

LOL SONS, im still listening to the New York radio station, and they think that they should be a playoff team by 2012, so that draft pick shouldnt be that big of a deal

1.) In the past, pick swapping has usually been at the option of one team -- in this case, probably the Rockets.

2.) If they make this deal, the team the Knicks can put together going into the year is Eddy Curry, Dani Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, and Toney Douglas. No high draft pick hopes to add to that mix. Compare that to the Nets up the road, with Devin Harris, Brook Lopez, Yi Jianlin, Courtney Lee, Terrence Williams, and Chris Douglas-Roberts, plus a top 5 pick coming aboard. That's a lot of empty roster slots for the team to fill.

To me, this then depends on the Knicks ability to land Lebron or a combo of Wade and a Bosh/Joe Johnson/Amare type. Even if they get Wade and keep David Lee, is that Knicks team really any better than the current 26-27 Heat team? Is Bosh+David Lee and the rest of the band better than the current Raptors?

I thought we only had a window |--| this big to win a 'ship. What good are 2012 picks if we're not in a rebuilding mode?

The reported scenario involving Knicks/Rockets/McGrady are accurate parameters, but nothing close to being done. Hesitation on both ends.
