Read the thread. First of all, to sign two star players, the Knicks would have to renounce Lee and McGrady, making them an incredibly thin team. What makes you think two max players, or even one, are going to sign at a place where they'd be taking a substantial discount (more money through re-signing or S&T) and not much talent around them?

I believe Scola will be traded to another team if this trade with the Knicks goes down. With all of the rumors swirling about Morey being interested in Tyrus Thomas and even Antawn Jamison over the past few weeks I felt that was due to Morey having a trade lined up to move Scola. Hopefully for a wing player that can score.

Not over excited but it is a fair trade between Knicks & Rockets.
We do not have much choice at this moment and the new players can help the team immediately.

I feel like we're settling with this trade. :(

Only way we give up our pick this year is if it's in a switch with the Knicks for their pick this year...

    Wait, scratch that.

The Rockets traded their first round pick in 2009 in the Artest trade. They cannot trade their 2010 pick, per NBA rules.

This deal just got a lot less enticing.

Some kid just posted that on the Realgm forum, so what's going on?

That can't be done since this years pick belongs to the Jazz, I think someone mentioned that earlier.

Irrelevant. It's amazing how many people can't grasp the rule. It has nothing to do with what happened in the past. You can trade your draft pick every year, if you want. You just can't trade out of two consecutive future drafts.

this is some stupid "insider" from a Knicks blog.

I don't think you can trade back to back 1st round picks. We traded ours last year for Artest.

a Scola + Battier package would have to look pretty promising out on the market...

That is not true. You can't have two consecutive future picks traded....

Utah was smart enough to work a deal with the Knicks a while back to receive their 1st Rd Pick this yr.
