You may thinks it's so slam dunk, but remember how fast Boston turned things around with simply a couple of moves. This is the 2011 and 2012 picks. Not 2010. Don't just assume that it will be a high pick....

Who's to say that we know FOR SURE D'antoni will even be the coach there after the summer of 2010. Look I'm not saying that I feel I'm a 100% right, it's just that this deal makes me feel uneasy....

Maybe we'd scrap the traditional 2nd unit lineup by benching Andersen and playing Carl and Al at the 4 and 5. Andersen, despite being almost 7 feet, offered little to none interior defense or rebounding. His primary purpose was to spread the floor with Carl operating in the low post and he does have a decent jumper indeed. But, Al has more range than Andersen and is way more of an explosive scorer.

what yall think of this trade?? Yahoo said the rockets and knicks needed a 3rd team.....

    Brooks/Lowry
    Ariza/C-Bud
    Battier/Miller
    Jamison/Landry
    Scola/Hayes/Hill

Scola could start at the 5!!!!

This trade has really got me thinking. . .
If our 'ship window is only a couple years, then I don’t see how this makes us contenders next year, nor do I see how it would allow flexibility for another trade that puts us in that conversation sans some out-of-left-field second trade Morey pulls out of his ass. Plus this lands us with a bloated contract in Jeffries, whom is not expiring. Jamison would be a better move; in my opinion, he’s a more reliable player who definitely makes us deeper at the 4 than this trade, though its probability is something I am wholly unaware of with the exception of the Yahoo rumors.

On top of that, the draft picks quickly lose their luster if NY does hit a home run in free agency this summer (or even a double); they better off they are, the lower the pick.

In response to those who think DM is just going to produce magic with those picks based on his track record, you need to re-configure your assessment of what Morey has done with those picks. They have been great picks, but it’s not like he’s uncovered superstars – he’s found great complementary pieces; however, their complementarity is necessarily contingent on what they complement (sorry for the redundancy), and to me, that’s star players. This is because each of those players has inadequacies that can only be masked by star power, be it Brooks’ asst: turnover ratio, Landry’s rebounding, Scola’s consistency / athleticism, etc.

Since these kind of inadequacies, which Hill is most definitely ridden with given that he hasn't been genuinely NBA-tested yet, are largely existent in this potential deal, I am left seeing a major fork in the road for the Rockets: either we are going to contend now (by now I mean over the next couple years), or we’re going to rebuild and just have Yao hang around, despite the fact that age is going to be so much harder on him given his medical history and his size.

That, to me, makes no sense – he (Yao) could be in great condition the next two years, but regardless of what happens in the next couple years, he’s going to be a minimal contributor / role player 3 to 4 years from now (grounded by what I said above). This leads me to thinking that the line of thought around the organization is, or at the very least should be, that we need to contend ASAP. Which brings me back to my point – this trade doesn’t fit that mold, so what is the organization, barring some Morey magic (which is so hard to predict ,as proven at last year’s trade deadline), saying to both the fans, and to Yao (in terms of his desire for a ring, and recognition of his own basketball mortality)? This is such a risky move that could end up flopping hard, and that leaves me frustrated as a fan.

i'm pretty sure they're still planning on building a champ. team for next year. Morey is likely to flip a combo of young talent and those picks for a BIG piece. Next season should be the last deciding one of the yao experiment. If he comes back strong, he could leave and he doesnt see us as being a championship team. Morey is going to try to add a Big piece or two, but younger ones, that way whether Yao stays or goes the team can continue to contend.

Not bad, although I don't know if I like adding Jamison for 2 more years at his age.

Trade makes no sense for the Wizards, they just traded Butler to dump his contract even though he is a solid player. Why would they take Jeffries back?

I think Harrington & Hughes will get some play time if we get them.
Hughes can play pg while lowry cannot play.

He's got a much shorter/smaller contract than Jamison.

Honestly, I'd see what we could get for one of Washington's big men in a three-way with New York. I don't want Jefferies contract and he's already 28. I wouldn't mind Hill, if that is a realistic scenario for us to gain, while also prying a swingman or big body way from Washington.

I'm going by what BimaThug said, and I doubt the cap will go up from what we're hearing.

This is a sweet deal. Do it before they change their mind.

They better not trade Dorsey as a throw in.

I think Morey consider Jefferies as a low risk investment like B.Jackson...
Jefferies'a contract will be end at 2011.

Jeffries WILL BE an expiring contract next year and this summer when we can look to flip him. Jordan Hill gives us another young asset to throw in a trade, or allows us to trade Landry, and the draft picks we received from NY could also be included in the right deal. Essentially, it allows us to go after big name FAs by offering a max deal through a sign-n-trade for these assets.

That's true, BUT.. I sincerely doubt NY lures any of the big name free agents. LeBron finally has a team with talent in Cleveland; going to New York would be starting over. Wade prefers Miami and has made a point of saying his first preference is and will always be to bring players TO Miami and stay in Miami. New York is going to be stuck going after the second tier stars, as well as locking up David Lee if they want him to be apart of their core. I just don't see them being very good next year, especially without a lottery pick this year.

You're not really contradicting us DM'ers. I agree that they were great picks but not superstars - but they were also in the mid to late 20s! If we had multiple lottery picks, I have faith that Morey could hit a homerun with one of the picks.
