Al Harrington can go off any game for like 40. Never knew why some people didn't want him. He's not that inconsistent.

I believe that ou guys are wrong they are swapping picks . From what I've understand New York can't trade their 1 st round pick 2 years in a row which means that the 1st round pick involve in this trade will be the rockets 1st round pick going to new york in 2011 and then the new york 1st round pick going to houston in 2012 . but maybe i'm wrong though

The cap space wasn't enough to sign a max player anyway. This deal will still leave the Rox some cap space I think which will allow them to not need to match salaries in a sign and trade if they target a guy like Bosh or Joe Johnson. They'd also have two draft picks that would be attractive to throw into any deal. Two first round picks is something most teams can't offer because of the consecutive draft rule, not to mention two potential lottery picks.

Also, Harrington might be a GREAT fit for the Rox.

This is not about building a championship roster for next year, It is about building a longterm contender with high draft picks...

    Jeffries won't crack our rotation IMO, but he's a 6-11, 240 lb. G-F?!? That's huge!

    So we get:

Jordan Hill - 2009 lottery pick
Swap with Knicks 2011 1st round picks
    Knicks 2112 1st round pick
    Knicks 2010 2nd round pick
Al Harrington or Larry Hughes - either contract gone after this year
Jared Jeffries - 1 more year at 7 mill. - this is bad, but good trade chip for next year

Not bad. The Knicks picks should be decent. If Hill turns out to be a player could be a really good deal! We're not taking back a big chunk of money and have the potential to keep adding young talent!

This is the real prize in the deal. I'll admit there is a slight chance the Knicks actually do sign a few of this offseason's great FA's, but that aside, this is a team that will fail to win 40 games for the 9th straight year.

Sure, it would be better to get their pick this year, but that's already going to the Jazz. But to get their second round pick this year, their first round likely lottery pick next year (while giving them our likely late teen at best pick) and getting their likely lottery pick the following year is just great.

Jordan Hill could develop into something...nothing great, but at least something. He got better considerably every year at Arizona, and would be back with Chase.

So we would be exchanging first round picks next season with the Knicks (who with everything as it currently stands should be worse than us next season)? Is this exchanging of picks in the same draft a common thing? I don't know if I've heard of it before. Would it be protected in the Rockets favor? Meaning we'd keep our pick if we somehow got a higher draft position? So many questions....

AND we'd be getting their 2012 pick?

This sounds like a good trade to me if taking on Jefferies contract wouldn't seriously impair our ability to resign Scola and Lowry.

In exchange for taking his contract, we get 1st round picks from New York. We will see how high those picks are. Crossing my fingers for New York not able to get James, Wades, Bosh, or other big names.

Swapping draft picks? Would this not make our pick being swapped out worst then what were getting back? NY will be better next season.

If this trade goes down tonight or early tomorrow I would suspect Morey has another trade up his sleeve before the deadline.

Worst case scenario..Knicks sign some superstar and make the playoffs next two years. Unlikely but it could happen...are 2 low 1st round pick worth it?
