The deal frees up jeffries:$6,883,800 and hill:$2,669,520 for the Knicks and leaves only $17.8M in salary on the Knicks books (Douglas, Chandler, Gallinari, Curry).

I would much rather have Harrington than Hughes. Can't Harrington play SG?

I've seen promising stuff from Taylor. Maybe you're just not watching? The staff seems to be pretty high on him, too.

That would be an impressive haul, though the pick swap would be next year and the extra pick the year after that. Utah has NY's pick this year.

He's 6'9 but yes, there's no way he plays the 2. The 3 is a reach.

Oh you're right, the luxury tax is at $69.9 million for 2009-10.

The Rockets are currently at $72.5 million.

So trading Cook if we get Hughes allows the Rockets to gain $3.5 million from the trade.

    My bad!

Yep they are high on him the same way Ny is with Gallinari. Taylor will be with more playing time who is still very young a Iggy/Mobley type player.

How many small forwards do we need? Hill is the better long-term prospect and he has height.

Well, the Knicks probably want Dorsey instead as he is an expiring, so no go there probably.

Sorry, my mistake! Wouldn't it be funny though having a 6-10 SG and a 6-6 starting center. I can see us dealing Scola for a shooting guard before the deadline.

then we have to keep cook

the knicks will want cook so they can include hughes and have more cap space off for the summer

the rockets will want to dump cook to get under the lux tax

financially it makes sense for both teams to have a hughes/cook inclusion for the deal.

NYK is taking more salary in the short term but they are willing to do that and they have the money they'll shave an extra couple million off their books for the summer

So what did Dorsey show when he was a rookie? That he was a mistake? Now because he has played one good game, he's showing that he "might have game?" Lucky for Rockets fans, Morey doesn't give up on his projects after half a season. Glad he's our GM.

    It could be just that.

As dragged out as the T-Mac process has been to us fans who are prying for anything to happen, it would seem like phase 1.

By doing the 3-3 swap, aside from getting rid of cook...I will see the argument of Dorsey becoming somewhat of an entertaining project to watch.

However, if Morey were to bring on an extra two that would seriously cramp future trade efforts, phase 2.

If there is one thing Morey has shown in all of his targets- is that he is a man who likes a little elbow room.

    oh I will add this

IF this deal goes through soon before the deadline

we better all hope the Amare to cavs deal goes through because thats the best chance of getting James to stay put this summer making the knicks worse for 2011 making that swap of picks all the more valuable!
