^^^Roster space? I know we have either 14 or 15 on the roster, or pretty sure we do.

Yeah, if anything throws off this deal it will be the protection of that 2012 pick. If we don't get that pick, why do we want to take on Jared Jefferies? A pick that we may not get until 2014 is too far out.

Daaaamn, Morey is really going young. He's really banking on the Knicks remaining terrible in 2011 and 2012. If they do, this could be really, REALLY good for us. If they get LeBron and some other high-profile superstar, this could be really bad. Very, very risky, Mr. Morey.

I'm not fond of taking on Jeffries' contract, but it expires after next season, so it's not too bad. That said, our cap space for the free agency market would dissipate.

I also don't like seeing Dorsey go, surprisingly. He's shown aptitude for getting the rebound, that's for sure. He positions himself well under the hoop on offense, too. I was looking forward to seeing him produce for a few more games.

I don't know how to feel about this. The first-rounders are really the crux of the deal, and it could be really bad if New York becomes really good.

Because they are after Scola and Lowry in the offseason.

Knicks probably either want Dorsey or we want under the tax.

Can Hill play center? Thats a pretty decent lineup, but I would start Harrington and bench Battier. Also, this might make Scola more flexible in the offseason and I wouldnt be suprised if he gets dealt b4 the deadline for a shooting guard.

You really think Gallo is something special, huh? Yes, he's a good outside shooter, but do you think he'll ever be "big 3" potential? Doubtful.

What about a handful of picks that can be exercised in the draft when plenty of stars go late every year.

If this is done earlier, then we still have time to pull off another trade - like Salmons for Scola and Cook (assuming we get Harrington and don't ship Cook to NY).

if the rockets are including dorsey and cook for sure then the deal has to be for Hughes and not Harrington

I dont like Hughes whatsoever but he does provide some support at the SG spot and he is just a 2 month rental so its not a huge hit.

Im not too sure that the Rockets might be inclined to keep Scola. With Hill on our team, I woulnt be suprised if Scola gets dealt before the deadline or as a sign in trade in the offseason.

If this trade were to go down our guaranteed contracts for next season are:

    Yao
Shane (who should be traded for an expiring and a draft pick by Thursday)
    Ariza
    Landry
    Anderson
    Hayes
    Brooks
    Taylor
    Budinger
    Jeffries
    Hill

That's 11. Plus, we will renounce these two:

    Lowry
    Scola

So the implication that Hughes extra $3.5 million in salary requires the expiring contract of Brian Cook makes no sense to me. Unless Houston just wants an even 3-3 swap.

Concur. I would much rather see Morey try to include Jermaine Taylor, who has shown zip. Dorsey is showing that he might have game while Taylor has shown he was a mistake.
