A scouting report on Hill from last year. He hasn't played much this year so there is still this potential:

    NBA Comparison: Chris Bosh
Strengths: One of the most improved players this year … Has the ideal size and length for a PF … He has worked on his body, adding some bulk and definition to an already wiry frame; this new strength allows him to get great position on the block where he is able to utilize a number of moves, but he prefers the left shoulder hook shot … He is comfortable operating from the high post, either shooting a nice looking midrange shot, or utilizing his quickness and putting the ball on the floor to get to the hoop … His faceup game developed nicely; not only has he become a consistent threat out to about 17 feet, but he has added some nice sweep and jab moves to go along with it … Even with the added muscle, he has maintained good mobility and quickness … This season he is playing big minutes but he continues to battle and run the floor, showing a very good motor … He has become a rebounding force on both ends of the floor, he attacks the O glass relentlessly and is able to use his body to control the paint on the defensive end … He has cut down his fouls and increased blocks to 3 per game, proving not only that he is a defensive presence but also that he has become more disciplined … With his developing frame and ability to knock down midrange shots, he has the potential to become a very good weapon in screen & roll situations …

Weaknesses: He has definitely come a long way, but his inexperience still shows at times … When operating in traffic or while facing double teams, he struggles, putting his head down and turning the ball over frequently … A part of the problem could be his hands, often times he doesn’t catch the ball clean, which allows the defense to converge on him and get him out of his comfort zone … His athleticism and strength also get him into trouble at times as he tries to bully through the defense rather than take what they give him … On the block he favors his right hand on finishes (even when turning to his right shoulder), usually exposing the ball back to the defender, and making his shots much more difficult than they have to be … While he has made strides with his maturity, there are still periods of lackadaisical play that he goes through … His lack of focus is also seen at the line, where he shoots a poor 60% on the season (he has shown he can be reliable, going 9-12 and 9-10 in separate outings this season)

Even if the picks are not in the lottery Hill was a lotto pick and has great potential. Trade Scola and Battier for another piece this year or let Battier and Jeffries expire next year and go after a big FA next summer.

Will the addition of Jeffries and Hill make it difficult to re-sign Scola and Lowry?
If so,I could see Luis being moved at the end of the season. DM should insist on getting Harrington instead of Hughes.

Because reading comprehension would tell you that:

I'm one who actually thinks Jordan can and will improve, but there's not getting around the huge disappointment he's been thus far.

I think he may get a little better year by year, like he did in college, until he comes a decent backup bench post player. I don't see him as ever worthy of his #8 pick, but he could become decent.

Jordan Hill is trash. Lets trade battier(trash too) for some picks as well. Might as well go with a big bang in the 2010 draft night.

The Knicks and Rockets have made progress on a proposed trade that would send Jordan Hill, Jared Jeffries and either Al Harrington or Larry Hughes in exchange for Tracy McGrady, Joey Dorsey and Brian Cook.

Yahoo! Sports reports that "an agreement is within reach" and that the two teams are "increasingly confident" that the trade will get done.

In a part of the deal described as "fluid," the Knicks might swap 2011 picks with the Rockets and/or send their 2012 pick to Houston.

The deal would give the Rockets young talent in exchange for McGrady, a player no longer in the team's plans, while the Knicks obtain McGrady and clear approximately $7 million more of salary cap room for their summer free-agent pursuits.

RealGM Note: The Knicks will have enough to offer one maximum contract and with the removal of Jeffries' from the team's payroll, could have an additional $15 million or more to spend. Shedding Jeffries could therefore mean that the Knicks could be closing in on enough cap room to offer two maximum contracts even with the expected decline in the salary cap.

    C: Chuck Hayes/Jordan Hill/David Andersen
    PF: Luis Scola/Carl Landry/Jared Jeffries
    SF: Shane Battier/Al Harrington
    SG: Trevor Ariza/Chase Budinger/Jermaine Taylor
    PG: Aaron Brooks/Kyle Lowry/Garrett Temple
    Inj: Yao Ming

Thats pretty solid. Keep the core of the team, add good depth. Jordan Hill gives us height and is still a rookie. Jeffries is a good defender, can play the 3, 4 or 5. Harrington is a great scorer and a solid rebounder. He can play the 3 or 4. My one concern now with the team is we need another PG, especially with Lowry expected to be out for a few more weeks than expected. Maybe trade Jeffries somewhere for a PG. Maybe Jeffries for Beno Udrih?

there is no way walsh is dumb enough to make the 2012 unprotected. it's still a great deal if it is, but if it is unprotected then we rape the knicks.

Wow, I am gone for 4 hours and this! Didn't read everybody.

I like it. The draft picks should be cool. Looks like Morey is trying to hit the jackpot through young talents rather than getting a superstar veteran. Or maybe he can package the picks and some of our assets for a star.

Anyway, being able to keep the core intact is a good thing. That's probably one of Morey's goal: if we can't get a star, we keep all our core players and wait for our fortune.

Oh, and Hill might turn out to be good. I don't know enough of him to judge.

If we get Harrington instead of Hughes, this trade makes us much better right now as well as better in the future as long as the rumored draft picks are included. We would get a good young lottery pick, a 17 point a game scorer in Harrington (who is younger than McGrady by the way), a likely better draft pick this year, and an extra first rounder next year. Not to mention we really don't give up much to do it!

Guys, with Harrington, this thing is an absolute no-brainer! Which is why I think we will probably end up with Hughes instead...

getting rid of jeffries is a great deal for the knicks. it's a fair trade for both teams. we get youth, while the knicks get the capspace to potentially get 2 max guys (or close to it) while seeing how tmac is.

Anyone have an actual assessment of Jordan Hill other than "he sucks" or "he's got upside"? Anyone watched any minutes in which he's played?

Dont think the deal happens. Same story with the 'nothing is imminent' results.

    Deal 1

    Incoming contracts:

    Al Harrington $10,026,875
    Jared Jeffries $6,466,600
    Jordan Hill $2,483,280

    Total: $18.976 million

    Outgoing contracts:

    Tracy McGrady $22,483,124

    Net gain: $3.5 million

    Deal 2

    Incoming contracts:

    Larry Hughes $13,655,268
    Jared Jeffries $6,466,600
    Jordan Hill $2,483,280

    Total: $22.6 million

    Outgoing contracts:

    Tracy McGrady $22,483,124
    Brian Cook $3,500,000
    Joey Dorsey $881,000

I don't understand why the Rockets would have to include Cook and Dorsey if they took on Hughes instead of Harrington. Any combination of the 4 with either Hughes or Harrington can be traded for McGrady straight up, or McGrady and Dorsey.

Honestly, it sounds like Knicks are really high on T-Mac.

Do you think he still has enough left in the tank for 2-3+ seasons, (20,5,5)?
