This topic is thread-worthy. Miami loading up on veterans for the championship fits that mold...but they also had years of suckitude...as did Atlanta, Washington, Philly. The only city where the theory applies absolutely is New York imo.

I think for competitive reasons this year, the Knicks would rather give up Hughes than Harrington. After this season, both would be gone so it doesn't matter, but this season, Harrington has been a much bigger contributor for the Knicks. And even though the Rockets lack more at the 2 than the 4 in terms of depth, I really don't like Hughes as a player. He's one of the worst "shooting" guards out there.

Is there some LeBron clone out there that I'm not aware of?

There are only a certain number of legitimate max FAs this offseason, and the Knicks aren't in contention for any of them really.

morey has made a living these past few years getting legit rotation players out of late first rounders and early second rounders. so i wouldn't be disappointed with 3 first round picks. i would be ecstatic.

the problem is will we be able to flip all these assets for a legit star? b/c we need it if we will contend for a championship.

its good to get a young prospect like jordan hill the kid has not been given much of a chance this season he was given some playing time against the detroit pistion and put up 20 points and 14 rebounds.

if tmac has something left + an all-star in david lee + an up and coming player in dano + a player's coach in d'antoni, i'm sure a star will come. but i'm sure the knicks are aiming for lebron/wade/bosh/or even amare.

Go look up Jeffries stats, and then come back.

People act like Jeffries is Cook. Jeffries can actually be a decent role player.

    lot of future potential...sure

    hate to take on Jeffries

basically cross your fingers the Cavs land Amare and dominate from here on out

we want LBJ in Cleveland and the hell away from NY...if NY signs a couple max guys they'll quickly move well into the playoff picture in the East and we won't be seeing the fantastic draft positioning we had initially hoped for

I dont think he ever cracked the 10 point mark, if im not mistaken? If he were to get significant playing time, I can see Scola and Battier packaged for a shooting guard.

Best thing about this trade is that it sets the Rockets up for a 2011-12 clean slate, if Yao breaks his foot again in 2010-11.

In 2011-12 season, The Rockets would have NY's 1st round draft pick, a 2010 2nd round pick, Yao and Jeffries both come off the cap. With a lower salary cap or hard cap in the new CBA, other teams might let not resign their own premium free agents. Rockets will have their best chance to sign a top player.

Screw that, I actually like Ariza on this team now and for the future. He was a starter for a championship team, and his defense will only get better with experience...now Battier and Scola...now we are talking...

Totally agree about Jeffries, people obviously don't watch the rest of the league. Jeffries is a team guy that works hard and plays very solid D. This deal to me looks like a big win

Maybe we will trade Yao for the mother load after he comes back healthy? You have to figure his marketing value is higher than his pure talent value, a team wanting to sell jerseys may trade us more talent to get him than they are bringing back.
