I would be mildly surprised if Honeycutt is released here. He has a small guarantee for next season which means he can be traded after the season. However it would not surprise me if both Anderson and Honeycutt are released to make room for not only Brooks but one more player signed to a contract with a small guarantee for next season but a salary larger than the minimum.
Here's the BS report that Simmons just posted. http://cdn16.castfire.com/audio/303...c13&referer=http://www.grantland.com/podcasts He talked to Zach Lowe. At the end he said he was gonna have Morey on next, but could not reach Morey who "must be working on a trade or something." Of course there cannot be a trade, so I suspect Morey is still working on the AB signing. Woj, I think, tweeted that there are a handful of teams interested so it may take a whole for AB to decide.

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA Houston has reached agreement on a deal with Aaron Brooks, source tells Y! Sports.
Aaron Brooks clears waivers; signing with Rockets http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--r...brooks-after-he-clears-waivers-235518057.html The Houston Rockets are finalizing an agreement to sign guard Aaron Brooks after he cleared waivers on Monday, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Aaron Brooks averaged eight points for the Kings this season. (USA Today Sports) Brooks agreed to a buyout with the Sacramento Kings on Friday. Because Brooks was released before the midnight March 1 deadline, he is eligible to be on the postseason roster for another team. [Also: LeBron to keep on dunking] Brooks signed a two-year, $6.6 million contract with the Kings over the summer. He's averaged eight points in just 21 minutes a game this season. The Kings have given increasing minutes to young guards Isaiah Thomas and Jimmer Fredette. Brooks had his best season in the NBA with the Rockets three years ago, averaging 19 points and five assists per game.

i dont get why people are miffed by this signing .. i mean come on .. what are we giving up to get him.. a chance at not having honeycutt? really? what are the chances he would play even a single moment? none .. but brooks can help us win games .. i can see a game where someone fouls out and he has to come in and plays well or someone is hurt and brooks gets hot .. he can lead a team to a win and at this point in the season every win counts
We sorely need more depth at the point. This is great news. Beverly and Lin are more free to go all out now. No need to conserve energy.
Team option could also mean non-guaranteed. Sadly non-guarantees are often reported as team-options, even by the best of the best like Woj. I would assume the Rockets gave Brooks a signing bonus (I think the max is 15% of full value) and the contract decreases by the maximum allowed (I think the max is 4.5%) in year two.
What is Beverly's contract situation. If we have an option for him for next year, I could see us selling high on him this offseason, parlay him into a second round pick and then use AB in a backup role. Folks questioning the wisdom of this move aren't even playing checkers, they're playing tic tac toe.
