Its easy to jump to the conclusion that AB is everything he was for the Rockets 4 years ago plus some added maturity. But what many are forgetting that this isnt 4 years ago and AB's game while certainly positive in certain ways was also a liability in others. He was turnover prone, dribbled too much, was weak at "D" and had a shoot first mentality. If you putting up big offensive numbers like he was at the time as a starter, then he was a net positive. I remember him able to get the offense going often times by breaking down the opponents defense, true.
I haven't really followed AB's career after his injury Of the few games I saw with him, the ankle injury seemed have prema slowed his pace and quickness.
AB is a better fit next to Harden than Lin.....in the sense that he can hit a three. He might take Patrick's backup minutes in the playoffs because he has that experience. Gives McHale another vet.
AB is a proven playoff performer that was one of the biggest reason we were able to win our first playoff series in like over a decade. The Brooks/Blake matchup was ridiculously exploited.
Guess I don't recall his injury everyone is talking about. Never followed the guy after he left Houston. And was never really a fan when he was here.
Is there a reason other than personal preference against Brooks? Most people here turned on him after he became a hot-head after his injury. Before that he was a pretty streaky dynamic scorer and brought passion to the team.

Personally I'd like someone who can shoot and play defense. But FO has been signing a lot of players on the team. We already have two PGs who can defend. AB's 3pt shooting fit the offense we run. Why not give him a try? McHale shouldn't play him heavy minutes. I'd like to use him more like a sniper attack or when the match-up is favorable.
Yes, he exploited Blake. Dont bet on that happening against Westbrook, Parker or Paul. His veteran status and his experience is a definite plus over Beverley. But in my mind, its the only one.
Patrick is shooting the 3 better than AB this year. I can see a fit next to Harden though. Thing is, unless he is the starter, there be only limited minutes where these two share the floor.
No. But dont we already have a player able to do this? Where are (AB) his minutes coming from unless you demote Beverley?
No we don't. We have a streaky rookie pg as our primary back-up. AB's minutes will come from Beverley if he can out-compete him. I don't blame Morey and Co. for looking to shore up the back up PG position when a rookie is your primary.
Patrick is a rookie. And admittedly that is cause for some concern if your depending on his minutes. But as I recall, AB was very streaky also.
I don't see why there is controversy. We can use depth, another guy can get down the court and some good 3-point shooting. If we can get it at a bargain price - what is there to debate?
The controversy is whether AB is the best fit available. Given we have a roster spot available, we have other choices. Its not down to AB or nothing.
Casper the Ghost(from Cleveland) or Brooks? Not that it was down to those two, but the two names known(that they were looking at).
