There was an article which said that Adelman basically scouted him when he was watching him play for the Oregon Ducks and pushed for Morey to draft him. Adelman may be from Portland. The best year in recent rockets history when Adelman was coaching the team , went to the second round of the playoffs and took the Lakers to seven games. Brooks is a competitor and was a homerun hitter in our most successful playoff run. I remember him hitting crucial threes to put the Blazers away in the first round.
Great re-signing if you will. He can play the 1 and 2 and be a dead eyed dick that thrives in this offense.
I doubt there's going to be an official deal until he clears waivers (48 hours). So probably Monday/Tuesday.
Beverley actually covers the pick and roll better than any of their perimeter defenders. Not sure they win the lousy game against Orlando if Beverley doesn't make several big defensive plays in the 4th. As bad as the Rockets D is right now, no way I cut Beverley's minutes right now.
That's too low. I was wondering could he offer him 2 years, $4 million with a team option and have the first year salary of $2 million spread out over the next two months?
Team option next year... YES... absolutely. This years salary... probably league minimum, but who really cares? They have 5 million on spare cap space this season. whatever they decide on, it really doesn't matter this season.
Odd fact I just picked up reading about Brooks (and it may have been mentioned already) : When he was signed by the Kings, they released Hassan Whiteside to make room for him. Whiteside is on the RGV roster. The Kings are swimming in ex-Rockets and we seem to be a channel for Kings players.
LIN / BEVERLEY / BROOKS HARDEN / DELFINO / ANDERSON PARSONS / GARCIA / WHITE* MOTIEJUNAS / ROBINSON / JONES ASIK /SMITH / OHLBRECHT 3 deep at each position. Not bad Morey, not bad.
Not bad indeed considering just over 12 months ago we were in cap hell and had a roster going nowhere. Not bad indeed.
Can we just enjoy this team this season for what it is? An exciting young team ( youngest in the league) that loves to run and score. The goal this season according to Harden is to get to the playoffs. Anything more is just icing on the cake for this season. Next season will carry different expectations depending on off season signings. Aaron Brooks is absolutely perfect for this team, combo guard with exceptional 3 point accuracy. I've been hoping we'd get him all season and ecstatic that it's happened. Lets just sit back and enjoy this exciting and full of potential team.
Your idea of "3-deep" must be a bit different than mine.... Lin/Beverley/Brooks ... Lin is inconsistent, but I still think he's good for this team. Beverley may come on, but has shown flashes of good play. Brooks - who knows. Harden/Delfino/Anderson .... ok. I can maybe give you this, but Delfino scares me when he goes 5-7 on threes one night and the next night shoots 2-9 or something. Parsons/Garcia/White .... Garcia and White? Motiejunas/Robinson/Jones .... Motie just barely started, Robinson has shown nothing, and Jones is barely allowed to stay called-up, but shows potential. Asik/Smith/Ohlbrecht .... Smith isn't consistent and Ohlbrecht hasn't shown anything at the NBA level. I see a solid starting lineup with a ton of potential players that haven't proven much yet.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/H08QlVTud24" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> we almost pulled it off that game...still won the series but it wouldve been cool.
Brooks familiar with the houston system a good backup for houston PG position perfect fit with Harden still valueable with a league minimun contract most importantly, prevent Lakers from signing a PG who can provide speed and energy We may not see Brooks getting minutes, but we can prevent Brooks from shooting us down
Your username will Always have meaning as Rocket fans can Forgive but should never Forget how Highly Skilled and Special AB is In addition to being the NBA's Most Improved Player in 2009-10, "Brooks... set a franchise record for 3-pointers made (209) and became the sixth player in NBA history to record at least 200 3-pointers and 400 assists." http://www.nba.com/2010/news/04/22/brooks.most.improved.ap/index.html Brooks can be another Game Changer like Beverley Thrills and Del3ino. Patrick Beverley has a Very Well Rounded game like Douglas. Depending on the matchups: Bev & AB can slide to SG with Delfino as a forward. Aaron Brooks is a Proven Clutch regular season & playoff player that helped the Rox WIN their first playoff series in the past 15 years ! If he and the other Rox guards are wise, they will try to learn some ways to improve particularly on D from Hall of Famers - Clyde & Murphy.
