For any calling out Anthony for not being competitive in the East, I'd say it's crystal clear that being on a winning team isn't why he asked for a trade. He simply wants to be in NYC, period. Only thing that matters to him. ? Bosh made up his mind months (if not a year) in advance and had himself a fun time stringing teams along because he was jacking off from the attention. Our true odds for getting him were somewhere around 0.1% We still have to see what happens, but it's looking more and more like Camp Carmelo put out false interest in Houston to get a bidding war going that would help get the Knicks or Bulls to cough up a package Denver would accept. At this point, I don't truely believe he has any interest in coming here. I'm only surprised that he didn't just say 'Texas' and get Cuban in on the bidding. It's been pretty clear that Morey aggressively pursues opportunities. I don't second guess whether he put forth a strong offer.
More @Al_Iannazzone: Nets would send J. Hayes to CHA w/Harris & Q-Ross to UTA. As predicted by @johnhollinger, Nets would also get Augustin
My point being is YOU have no point. and you stop with these percentages. wtf 150%? Let them play the games before you write them off as having no chance against the Lakers.
From 15 game winner to that? And then cap room to boot.........not a bad way to go for a new owner, eh? DD
Man, Melo and Lopez would be a nice 1 - 2 punch but after that it's a massive drop. Troy Murphy, Augustin and Outlaw after that? The starting lineup would be decent but NO bench and probably an 8th seed at best. The Russian better hope he can get Paul either via trade somehow or in 2 years. Call me skeptical at best this thing goes through.
yeah, what we'd want we cant get realistically and what is available isn't something we'd want. by the way, the nets may not be as bad as people think... DJ/Farmar Morrow Melo/Outlaw Murphy Lopez Obviously they wont be great or very good, but it seems like they could fit well and overachieve.
If Melo is going to let his wife and agents run his career and he chooses the "bright lights" of NY/NJ, then screw him. His heart is not really into winning. The problem we have is we cannot depend on Yao being a above average player anymore. Who is our number one option? Our players are good, but you need superstars to win in the NBA. Morey is collecting all these "pieces" but if we cannot land a superstar player, whats the use. Looks like we are stuck at fighting for a 7th or 8th playoff seed if lucky.
Thank you. The small-minded mentality of a select few drives me up the wall. No one "blew" anything. There are 29 teams in the league. When an elite talent becomes available, yes, the Rockets will be interested. No, that doesn't mean they'll get him, because tons of other teams want him as well. It just baffles me how upset so many people get in the aftermath of Bosh, and now perhaps Carmelo. Drop the sense of entitlement, and move on to the next opportunity. If you throw enough lines out there, eventually one of them will catch something.
I would have loved to see a Favors/Lopez combo in a few years... One guy that everyone is leaving out is Terrence Williams... He has huge stud potential... TWill>Morrow, imo
That lineup is pretty well put together, they have scoring, rebounding, defense......it is not as bad as you might think. And if Melo is so elite, he should be able to lead them to 50..... DD
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA... Dude, They would be lucky to win 42 and squeak into the 8th spot. I do like Morrow and Outlaw but DJ can't shoot or defend, Murphy will stretch the "D" but probably should be a backup and they have ZERO depth.
I think that team is pretty good......good enough in the East to challenge for the playoffs, and the Nyets will have flipped their culture after only one year. Pretty damned impressive for a new regime. DD
