Stupid question, where do they get all this money, I thought what was left from Steve Blake, that was the offer to Barnes.
from the looks of it Ratliff signed for the vet min which any team can do and keep adding to their roster and payroll. Barnes will be signed with the remainder of their MLE all the lakers can do now is sign vet min contracts (like Ratliff) and signed their 2nd round picks to their structured deals
What's the situation with Benga and Brown? Have they re-signed with the Lakers yet? I know Brown had some interest from the Bulls, but Benga, I don't know.
Per Larry Coon via Twitter: http://twitter.com/LarryCoon Looks like Brown won't be a Laker next season, which is good news for us. Hope he goes to Chicago or some other contender.
Call me a tmac hater now but I don't want him to ever pass the 1st round, contributing or not. He's done houston a great disservice, I hope he is remembered as the one of the only all-star (if not the only) to never make it past the 1st round.
How bout ariza!? U think he just magically goes away?? And u call me an idiot!! I'd say ur the idiot for trying to start crap over the Internet!! Grow up partner and back the hell off!!!
He's played well every place he's went. Every team he's played for he contributed. D-Bag? Talk about a rush to judgement
So please explain to me why he can't secure a long term contract despite "playing well" and why he's had altercations at almost every team he's been on. He's just a tough hard nosed player and that's the way he plays? Not seeing a pattern in his career?
Well first off, he actually CHOSE to leave his respective teams. It's not about securing a contract if the player makes a choice not to come back. He's played well on every team he's played for.
Yeah and there's a reason that Ariza, Brown, and Artest did a fair amount of team-moving as well - but what hey also have in common once coming to LA is that ring. Good pick-up, pretty much for penny to a dollar and helps L.A.'s mediocre bench.
He chose to leave because he wanted to get a bigger contract, which he thought he was getting from the Raptors. But the Raptors had 2nd thoughts and now he has to settle for the contract the Lakers offered. It's been like that for him throughout his career, he's been looking for that big secure contract only to be blackballed and offered leftovers from what is left from the free agent pool. Why is he getting blackballed despite relatively playing well for his respective past teams? Because everyone knows he's got an attitude problem. So what's your explanation of why he can't get a long term financially secure contract? He doesn't want that? He'd rather be a journeyman satisfied with the leftovers from the free agency money? He's got the same problem Terrell Owens has in the NFL, he has a bad rep he can't shake off. (TO is old also I have to add)
It seems like the curse of Kobe Bryant. A player gets in his face and then wants to join the Lakers next year. Let's not forget our old friend Ron-Ron. Notice the similarities:
