Thomas plays out of control all the time...especially on the offensive end. He may be defensive potential, but his offense reminds of Stro-show. Oth, I wouldn't mind Jamison, because I'm not paying the bills. I can't see why Morey would do this though.

we wont have any cap space this summer unless we renounce our rights to our free agents, which the team will probably not do since that potential cap space will not be enough for a max contract. in short, keeping lowry, scola, hayes, etc is greater than the 7 or 8 million we might have. keeping them also means being over the cap.

letting tmac expire will move us far enough under the LT to have enough room to add an MLE contract without going over the LT.

so my point earlier was that we either hold on to tmac and go for the MLE this summer, or trade him for something of greater value than the MLE even if its not a perfect fit (butler, jamison, salmons/thomas fall into this category).

If somehow we can get Thomas and Jamison, I will personally go up to Morey and kiss his feet.

When people wise up, the more they agree.....I can handle the peach fuzz crew not understanding how to build a team.

The Rockets could still trade McGrady to the Knicks for expiring garbage, get under the LT THIS year, and still be able to use their MLE this summer without going into LT territory. I still say that would be preferable to holding onto McGrady's contract in order to prove a point to him.

Neither of these guys make any sense. I think it's a smoke screen.

Jamison is a stretch 4, that rebounds well and drives to the basket, his age is a concern but he has been productive his entire career.

I have come to the conclusion that we either wont do anything and let T-Mac's contract expire or Morey will SHOCK the rest of the NBA and execute a trade that no one saw coming.

Do you really think I don't know who Antawn Jamison is? Really? I know who is. I know what he does. I like his game. But he's 33 years old. There is no point in acquiring a 33 year old Antawn Jamison. If we were adding a 33 year old Antawn Jamison to a healthy core of Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady - I would say "ABSOLUTELY!". But we're not. What do we need the guy for?

As has been said, we've got power forward covered by guys who are efficient and inexpensive - why do we need expensive and old?

Hell, I didn't want Caron Butler because I thought he was too old.

Jamison would be a solid move for this team: he's a high scorer, extremely efficient, solid rebounder. His contract is big, but if he keeps up the output, he is worth it in comparison to a lot of top dollar big men (Gasol, Stoudemire, etc make more than him and do less and have had more injury problems despite being younger). It's also essential to note the high potential of a lockout, which means that making moves that seem expensive now might cost a lot less.

This trade, however, still leaves us a second-tier team when Yao returns; there is still the glaring need for a wing scorer who can pass the ball very well.

I do agree, however, that while this is a pretty sweet deal in terms of talent return, that Morey is going to pull something off that no one saw coming.

Side-note / question: how soon can the Wizards flip Howard and Gooden? If they can be traded before the deadline, the money would work where we execute a 3-team deal that nets us Jamison and Iguodala

Houston would get: Jamison, Iggy (talent in the two areas we can use it + lets us keep Landry as a 6th man in the future a la Ginobili / Crawford / Terry)

Washington would get: McGrady (huge expiring deal)

Philly would get: Budinger, Scola, Cook, Howard and Gooden (all expiring deals sans Budinger, who is a young talent, which they want back)

You're right. There has to be incentive to take him on. Getting Blatche might be worth it.

    he's still pretty durable too.

he'd be a great fit next to yao and playing for adelman. the only concern is the contract and the age. if thats the best out there then i'd be happy with it.

honestly, i'd be happy with just about anything for tmac. he's given us 0 this year. in fact, his distractions have been a negative. so anything remotely positive (such as jordan hill, or salmons and thomas) is better than what we started with.

The question on Jamison is how much do you think he has left? He is not a high flyer so probably has 3 good years left at a decent rate.

Right now we are getting ZERO production out of a $23 million dollar contract.....

Maybe you get Jamison to flip him next season to Cleveland.....

Either way, I like him and have wanted him for years....

All I see in Jamison is a upgrade at PF. Nuff said.

Are you determined to give Leeb a heart attack? Heck, he's already attempting to push Scola out the door. He'll be calling Jamison 40 by next year if we end up with him! ;)
