Wouldn't it be crazy if we some how ended up with Dwyane Wade?...One can only dream. ;)

I disagree with the "playing behind Scola/LandrY" part. He certainly would be starting and one of those two would be gone. He's also not a "waste," in that he's a real offensive talent, but the rest I agree with.

seems like morey is just trying to get the most value he can out of tmacs contract. less concern is placed on how the player fits. in jamison's case, his skill set would be a great fit... better than our current pf's. however, his age and contract would be a downer. still, if it's the best offer out there, you take it.

At least that's an argument that's straight forward.

This is a good point, but I'm not sure how Jamison fills existing needs.

Right now, the Rockets have 2 problems in the frontcourt: 1) They don't have the size and athleticism to defend the rim or go up against taller frontcourts and 2) none of the Rockets' bigs are very good at passing from the high post- a key to beating the fronting defenses that have taken both Yao and Landry out of the game.

Does anyone know if Jamison can pass from the high post since he won't help with the first problem?

Wow if true this would be the first trade rumor that doesn't involve mcgrady. If mcgrady is part of the deal without giving away anyone of our forwards then i think this trade is dumb. Having Dorsey, Scola, Landry, Hayes, Andersen already and then adding Jaminson would be dumb.

Maybe they can get him without giving up McGrady but i doubt it. The way things are starting to look maybe just maybe they would decide to stand put and keep all their expiring for themselves

If Morey gets Jamison I will feel like he got scared and was forced to settle. Kind of like what happened with Portland frantically trying to use their cap space this past offseason. It would put a bad taste in my mouth. Morey's superhero status would drop in my book.

I agree with you but I think if we were to somehow trade for Jamison, I could him being flipped to someone else before the deadline is over.

I'm a huge Jamison fan. I think he would work great along side Yao. Not sure if we would be good enough to make it past a 2nd round, but he would be better than anything we would get in the free agency.

Why is that a key? No one will guard Yao or Landry when they moved to high post. It does not matter whether they could pass or not there.

i'm not saying that jamison would be a great trade, but if it's the best trade out there then why wouldn't you take it?

suppose that we just let tmacs contract expire (or move him to the knicks for expirings to get under the LT) next summer we might have the MLE to spend thanks to that move. would that MLE player have more value than jamison? your probably not going to get a 20-10 pf with 3 point range for the mle. he's a perfect fit next to yao, albeit overpriced for his age. even if he isn't in long term plans, morey can move him over the summer for more value than signing an MLE player.

it's all about asset management. morey needs to get as much as he can for tmac, then sort things out later if need be.

He is definitely talented and I would personally start him at the 3 simply to get Ariza off the court, but getting an old guy with a big contract at a position of strength seem like a giant waste imo. I would rather just let the contract expire.

I really dont understand this. Our biggest needs are a SG that can create for others and himself and a shot blocking center that can back up Yao next year. Neither of these trades make sense.

It is good to have Jamison, but the salary is so unbalanced that they need to add significant fillers. What that would be? It will be very hard for them since they had deal with Dallas. I doubt Washington wants to do that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we won't have the MLE if we just let McGrady expire because only teams OVER the cap get it. All we will have is whatever cap space we have left after resigning our players. That's why it makes much more sense to trade McGrady for someone this year that fills a need with a longer contract and then we also have the MLE next year for another player/ players...

I would be pissed if he waited this long only to panic. He should of picked up the Butler/Haywood/Stevenson deal if that was really the case. Dallas made a great move and this propels them into contender status in my eyes.

I still have faith in Morey. As much as it pains me to say, except for Amare/Bosh, I just don't see much value of anything that is left out there with the exception of Iggy/Dalembert, which to me is still not something that is going to put us over the top. Maybe, we just need to wait it out to see what happens this summer and next. I am a fan of sticking the game plan unless something extraordinary comes along, and so far, that is exactly what Morey is doing. The Lakers did they same with Odom/Bynum, and look where they are now (Of course the Gasol move completed it and this is something we are precisely waiting for).

Unless we model ourselves after the Pistons (before they became a mess) then I really don't see how we are going to with Yao anchoring our offense as a 1a option when he really belongs to 1b at most.

The next 4 days will be interesting as the sellers begin to panic.

He is only on contract for 2 years after this season. Whats not short about 2 years? The guys is a upgrade over Scola at least. I will take a upgrade in talent any day of the week.

2 years is the win a championship with Yao window.

$13,358,905 next season and $15,076,715 the year after that. Two years of quite possibly being in cap hell with the NBA/players union fighting over lowering salaries and possibly the cap. Dalembert (just as an example), who fills a larger need, IMO, is a year shorter and his last year is at $12,200,000. Jamison's contract makes a difference going forward. Don't get me wrong, because I think Jamison would be a good fit, but he makes Scola look like a spring chicken, age wise. People around here have been calling Luis 30 for months (he's still 29), but Jamison has been that for years. Just pointing that out.

Plus, we still don't know if Yao is even going to play next season, much less play the next two seasons healthy and at a high level. It's rolling the dice, big time.

If we take on Jamison, Scola or Landry is obviously out. I would expect McGee or Blatche with Jamison in a deal like that. Something like...

    T-Mac
    Scola

    for

    Jamison
    Miller
    Blatche (or McGee)
