And one of the worst on defense. Be realistic and remember what are we looking for. Not a 2nd round, a ring.
[QUOT]Once the Timberwolves trade Al Jefferson(notes) this summer, they can re-sign Thomas and plug him into the frontline with Kevin Love(notes). Jefferson is expected to be traded for a talented, young small forward. QUOTE] that reminded me of the Wolves offered Jefferson for Granger and got rejected by the Pacers. maybe Al Jefferson could be the dark house for Rockets? what about do the Philly trade (give them CBud for Philly's 2nd pick to make it happen!) then package Iggy w/ Scola for Al Jefferson + Damien Wilkins(expring) line-up: Dalembert, Hayes Jefferson, Landry Battier, Wilkins Ariza, Taylor Brooks, Lowry Trade Dalembert's expiring contract for a 2/3 star next season when Yao's back (maybe Rip Hamilton?)
The only Morey trade which can attract media is Artest's Move. The other trade is small trade like scola, lowry's move which will not get much attention from media and made you think it is nothing slip to media.
Really? I know they're not great individual defenders, but being a top 5 defense for the past several years with primarly these two PFs seems to dispute your assertion. This team just needs a full-on center period, whether it's Yao or someone else. And you think guys the level of Antawn Jamison or Tyrus Thomas are going to get us a ring? Keep dreaming. Better off with this PF duo at a bargain, so we can spend the money at another position.
Well I'm far on the other side of the fence. I think taking Mcgradys contract and turning it into Jamison is decent. Yeah the guy is a bit older, but he is in tremendous shape, a great athlete, and someone that could push you over the top (thats why the Cavs want him).
it really saddens me just to think scola would be traded but this is the best trade i can see right now http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yz5q7pj
Cavs want him because they are in Win Now mode. I was for the Caron deal because his contract was short. Jamison will be making $15 mil. in 2011-2012 when he's 35. If it's a rental and the Rox decide to trade him next year for young talent or draft picks it's ok.
I don't know, maybe I exaggerated, but for sure amongst elite teams. They are good offensively, but Yao's better as offensive post player, and then we're gonna need other things. We have 2 PFs who basically give us the same, in different ways but in the end the same. Like Rosas said this weekend, we must focus on the highest level. - Jamison gives us a versatile PF who plays as a SF, he's a very very good player, he'll make Yao a better and bigger threat in the lane. E.g. you can't play fronting defense against Jamison. Also he has the body, experience and IQ to defend/rebound at the same or better level than our combo. - Thomas is not a scorer, but has defensive potential, he really changes shots and penetrations, and I think our combo suffered him last month. He's a 4th pick for a reason. I don't know, just try to see why pherhaps we're interested in these players. I think it makes sense.
They have LaMarcus Aldridge already who I don't believe has reached his ceiling. They need size to compete with the Lakers and Scola is probably overstated on his height and weight. Plus the entire city of Portland would boo sending out Fernadez to no end. The fans there absolutely love him. I know, I lived there.
I like Thomas but REALLY like Jamison. I just hope Morey can get something for that albatross Tmac. DD
I suspect our interest in Jamison is merely as a player in a three team trade and nothing more. He really doesn't seem to fit the mold of what we need nor is he young enough to potentially be a core piece moving forward. If we somehow ended up with him right now you might as well permanently place his name on the NBA trading blocks. That said, I would prefer somebody younger with upside that will cost less. Tyrus Thomas is a player along those lines, although I'm not much of a fan of his game.
Hate to agree with DD, but Jamison is one good baller. Despite him being a bit old (34 years?) he is still playing some good ball, averaging around 20 ppg, and 8-9 rebounds per game. And if we can get thomas, we could be a deadly team.
I love all the "Hate to agree with DD" bits...lol.... I can just feel the love from the peanut gallery. DD
I think I proposed this trade somewhere back in the trade thread a month or so ago... Houston gets: Miller Chandler Washington gets: McGrady Charlotte gets: Jamison We get the two parts we need: Shot blocking C and scoring wing. Chandler's contract is one year shorter than Jamison and can be trade bait next year or insurance in case Yao can't play.
And considering we are not in win-now mode (I think its safe to say that by now), a deal involving Jamison for Landry would be counter intuitive.
Jamison is an offensive talent, but why would we want him? Not a short contract, certainly not needed if this is a "development year" (which I personally have never really bought into, being the optimist who thinks we always have a chance), but why Jamison? Expensive, "old," plays a position we have covered very cheaply. What's the point? If we were sending him elsewhere, that's different, but that doesn't seem to be your desire.
Jamison would be a total waste. He has a long contract, is already old, and would not be playing ahead of Landry or Scola (if he is not moved). Thomas is just a scrub.
