Maybe Morey is trying to gauge Washington's interest in what the Rockets would have to give up to get Jamison in order to get him to Cleveland. Maybe Morey really likes J.J. Hickson and would do a three-way deal that nets him Hickson and Ilgauskas's expiring contract. FYI, Ilgauskas had a special clause in his contract that called for him to be paid half his salary at the beginning of the season. While this does not affect his cap number, the actual money owed to him for the remainder of the season is disproportionately low, which would save Les some money. Either for him to play here, or more likely for him to agree to a smaller buyout amount.
Rockets get Thomas, Salmons and Jamison. Bulls get McGrady Washington gets Hinrich and future Bulls pick. While this doesn't help our current LT situation, this gives us play or trade pieces for next year. Brooks/Lowry Salmons/Taylor Ariza/Battier/Budinger Jamison/Scola/Landry Yao/Andersen/Hayes/Dorsey
Jamison is a 20ppg scorer most of the time. Downside I think he's like 33 years old. Depending on the Yao situation this could be a decent move. Though it doesn't really clarify who we would give up.
It is funny that we dont put more effort on Bulter, Stoudamire, Iggy but try Jamison now... Jamison is totally not low-risk Morey style...
I think this is a smokescreen. I will also say that we could top Cleveland's offer for Amar'e fairly easily without giving up too much. Cleveland is offering an expiring and a prospect, we have those things.
If it were up to me I wouldn't do Jamison and mcgrady straight up. Maybe scola+ Battier? Then a martin for mcgrady trade? Idk I mean this is just an idea and Morey will work his magic eventually.
Thomas gives us nothing, and Jamison's contract will handcuff us with the luxury tax for the next few years. There's got to be something else to this. Not to mention that we already have 2 good PF's and Jamison is older than both of them. I would love to get a future first rounder from Washington though, or a Bulls first rounder.
Yeah, I could take back Jamison in exchange for a completely unprotected first round pick given that they have a shot for the John Wall sweepstakes, and at worst, the Number 4 pick isn't bad. Throw in McGee as another potential and I could swallow Jamison.
Unless we can land a big name PF (Bosh, Stoudamire) I would rather have Scola and Landry. The two of them combined already make us one of the best teams at the PF position...especially on offense. We may not be able to keep both of them after next season, but it's worth holding onto both of them and just seeing what happens when it's time to re-sign Landry next off-season. It would be huge if we could re-sign Scola for a bargain this off-season.
morey never lets anything slip to the media before it goes down. if you hear about it, its not gonna happen.
* Camby is available too. I believe also that the clippers won't ask for much either I'm just dreaming now Brooks/Lowry Martin/JT Ariza/C-Bud Jamison/Landry/Hayes Yao/Camby/Andersen
