Whew, I was expecting to read Eddie Jones. Wouldn't be much of a surprise with Juwan Howard on the roster.
lol @ people saying earlier that they were going to be bron/wade/bosh and scrubs. This team will be at least a #2 seed in the East. Next offseason, they would have the MLE to work with again.
The only thing to stop them now is injuries. Miller and Haslem could start on most teams. Howard, House, Z, and Jones are solid off the bench. Only PG is an actual weakness but I bet they will go with Miller, LBJ, Wade to close out games. I think they win it all.
Great Signing by the Miami Heat. He is the type of player they need with the Big 3. Great shooter and a super quick release. less than 3 million for 2 years, great bargain indeed!!!
You can't have an all star at every position. The Heat are kind of reminding me of Jordan's Bulls. Crap at PG and C, Hall of Famers on the wing, role players like Horace Grant and Paxson/Kerr are very simliar to Haslem and Miller. Obviously they had great coaching and MJ's unbelivable will.... Wouldn't surprise me to see them exceed everyone's expectations.
Dang, they now have a TON of offensive firepower, all they need to do is build team chemistry, considering almost none of these guys were on this team last year, and team defense will improve with time. If they do that, this could be a 65+ win team.
Speaking of comparisons to MJ's Bulls, the key for the Heat will be defense, especially on the perimeter. If they can break the backs of opponents by crushing them with ball-pressure, denying penetration and passing lanes, this team will be very hard to beat. Sure enough the lack of a great post defender at C will be a weakness, but they can overcome that with athleticism and help-defense. The thought of Wade and LeBron both playing tough defense at the same time should give teams nightmares. It will take time to get their chemistry together, but the Heat have definitely added enough talent to win it all. Spoelstra will be under a lot of pressure.
But the Bulls frontline was good defensvievly and on the boards. They had an elite defender at PF. I don't know about this Anthony guy, and the last time Z was counted on to stop Howard it was embarassing. I think they are great at the wing spots and even at PF. I'm just thinking of when they play Orlando and LA.
when the cavs lost to orlando, it was more than just howard abusing them. it was the mismatch of lewis also at the PF position. i don't think howard alone can beat the heat. the lakers pose more of a problem b/c all of their big men are capable of scoring, and that can counter the greatness of the heat perimeter players. it'll be interesting to see when the heat match up with the lakers. a team loaded on the outside v. a team loaded on the inside
the magic are never gonna win anything with rashard lewis making max money. howard cannot beat the heat alone, seriously they can put lebron on howard if they had to.
