Um, what the heck? I don't understand this move AT ALL from the Warriors. Can someone break this down for me? Because Maggette was practically about 40% of their scoring before he got injured and Curry broke out. TradeMachine tells me he only costs 8M while Gazuric and Bell cost 9M, and they're pretty useless in comparison to Maggette's production. If it's an age + contract thing, then I can understand. Are Gazuric and Bell expiring contracts and how many years left did Magette have left on his?
chadfordinsider Bucks also get 44th pick (the one Portland just traded them) in the deal. Saves GS about $15 million. Salmons unlikely to return to Mil
Alright, that makes sense, 15M, especially since Maggette is 30 and the Warriors aren't going anywhere for a while. Tank time yet again for the 20th season in a row.
Its a risky move but the bucks could hit the jackpot .. and imagine if they add someone else in the next free agency theyll be the team to beat .. Imagine the bucks ..
The Bucks won't have any cap room this summer (less than the MLE, so they'll just keep the MLE instead), and this actually causes them to have LESS cap room in 2011 (Maggette's 2011-12 salary is significantly higher than Charlie Bell's), but the Bucks will still have a good amount of room in 2011, anyway. I like this deal for both teams, financially speaking. The Bucks save a little money in the short-term (and add the better player) at the expense of having less cap room in 2011 and having to pay Maggette $10.9M in 2012-13. Meanwhile, the Warriors get out from under Maggette's deal before they have to deal with new contracts for their young guys. (Remember, both C.J. Watson and Anthony Morrow are restricted free agents this summer, followed by Brandan Wright and Ronnie Turiaf [unrestricted, if he opts out] next summer, and then Anthony Randolph in 2012.) Also, if he's healthy, I can almost guarantee that Charlie Bell is playing serious minutes at SF for Nellie next season.
Maggette is and has always been a blackhole. There is a reason why guys like him and Randolph go from team to team despite putting u pgood numbers. He breaks up team chemistry and the Warriors have been trying to get rid of the guy reportedly since they got him. I'm sure the Bucks will too unless Maggette finally plays within a team like Randolph has and maybe the Bucks coach (name slips me atm) can do that for him as Nellie's system definitely doesn't help build team chemistry or structure.
the thing is, the bucks desperately need offense and that's exactly what spaggette brings, highly efficient offense
Maggette is still a very good scorer but not worth his salary ofcourse. He is injury prone but he can still find the free throw line. It is a good move for the Bucks. Warriors just gave him away for basically nothing. Maybe they just want to clean house and start rebuilding around Stephen Curry.
Absolutely horrible trade for the Warriors. Savvy move by Bucks. They desperately need a player who can get his own shot and doesn't play point guard.
Why wouldn't Salmons reconsider going back to the Bucks? Jennings Salmons Maggette Thomas Bogut Seriously solid lineup.
