I would point out that while both hockey and curling were on CNBC/MSNBC, Curling outdrew Hockey fairly consistently. The curling events were the most watched Olympic events that were on cable - and that was even before the medal games. So I'm not sure the Olympics helps hockey that much.

I was going to praise Canada for having great success in the games, putting on a great games and Vancouver for being a beautiful and fun city until I just heard that Nickelback is going to be featured in the closing cermonies.
I disagree that it's all about the golds. I also disagree that the total medal count tells the story. The true answer is somewhere in between. A weighted point system is probably the best way to find the actual impact. If you use a 3/2/1 weighting for G/S/B, the US wins handily, with Germany second and Canada third. If you ramp it up to a 5/3/1 weighting, the US still wins comfortably, with Canada tying Germany for second. If you give a gold medal twice the weight of a silver, using a 10/5/1 system, then Canada finally overtakes the US, just barely. At the end of the day, I'd call it a dead heat.
What a game! Props to USA - made it a very entertaining nailbiter. But in the end...OHHHHHHHHHH CANADAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! This is a day I will never forget - hockey gold on home soil. The atmosphere here is incredible...and I'm four hours out of Vancouver!
Well not many in Houston care about hockey. I did watch the game though. Fairly entertaining just bc it's fun to root for the underdog.
The Americans on the USA hockey team certainly care about it and there are plenty of fans in the U.S., like myself, that love hockey. It may be Canada's sport but fans come from every corner of the globe.
amazing game.. congrats to Canada. Absolutely hate that it was Crosby. Really excited that the NHL is gonna be back this week. And I really hope this has helped generate interest in the sport of hockey... a Penguins/Capitals rematch in the ECF could help give the sport one more push.
Appears the Gods are on my side, they knew of this result forthcoming thus they felt it would be unjust to ban a man who is a fan of God's team.
