my racism? i was quoting other people. and the jewish family that was petitioning against my family moving into the neighborhood WAS JEWISH. i thought found it ironic that no other white family had a problem. given the similar histories between the jewish and koreans. that's hardly racism. but maybe if you learned to read korrektedlee you would get that. anyway, go rockets???
Going into these Olympics, I considered the US team to be the biggest threat to Canada (with Russia a close second). That US team is young, hungry and play like they have nothing to lose, which is a dangerous combination. I think it will be a close game on Sunday but the home town boyzzzz will pull it out in the end.
Boring? http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/blogs/po...nt-of-condoms-headed-to-olympic-athletes.html Emergency shipment of condoms headed to Olympic athletes * February 24, 2010 6:07 PM * By John Shmuel Story provided by National Post Rowdy curling crowds; spontaneous street parties; public drunkeness. You don't have to look far for evidence that the crowds at Winter Games in Vancouver know how to have a good time. Rowdy curling crowds; spontaneous street parties; public drunkeness. You don't have to look far for evidence that the crowds at Winter Games in Vancouver know how to have a good time. And, as if anymore proof is needed that a wild Olympic atmosphere permeates B.C.'s largest city, now there's an apparent condom shortage. That's right. As you read this, an emergency shipment of condoms is desperately making its way across Canada to the West Coast city. Health officials in Vancouver have already provided 100,000 free condoms to the roughly 7,000 ahtletes and officials at the Games. That's about 14 condoms per person. But as of Wednesday, those supplies started running dangerously low. So naturally, the Canadian Foundation for AIDS research decided to step and make sure there were no hitches in Olympic action. "When we heard about the condom shortage in Vancouver, we felt it important to respond immediately," said Kerry Whiteside, CANFAR's Executive Director. The organization assembled three large boxes of about 8,500 condoms, much to the relief of libidos at the Olympic Village. They're expected to arrive on Thursday. Free condoms first started to be distributed at the Olympics in Barcelona at the 1992 Games. This appears to be the first time that a shortage has struck the Games.
Canada can pour a bunch of rancid maple syrup all over their flannel-ridden, lumberjack bodies after Miller destroys their dreams yet again.
Wasn't the Miracle on Ice a semi-final game? I assume you're comparing Canada to the Soviet Union and not Finland which was the gold medal game.
Wrong. They analyzed that replay a little bit later in the broadcast. They highlighted three areas of contact. One was Ohno's light touch, the second was Hamlen's grab/push on the Korean and the third was the Korean grabbing Hamlen's skate as he fell. They happened in that order. I'm not necessarily disputing Ohno's disqualification. In fact after the hit happened in real time, I knew he would be DQed. But based on replays, if he gets tossed for the light touch on the other Canadian, so should Hamlen on his touch of the Korean. Or no one should have been disqualified. They just need to be consistent. Speaking of consistency, I don't quite understand how the Women's Canadian hockey team can come back out onto the ice (a public venue) and smoke cigars and drink beer (one of which is underage), how Plushenko can make claims that Lysacek didn't deserve the medal and go so far as to create a new medal for himself and post it on his website, and neither are reprimanded for their actions...yet Scott Lago is asked to leave the games for a couple of somewhat suggestive photos at a private party. If Lago's actions demonstrate conduct unbecoming an Olympian, then so are theirs....Lago should never have been forced to leave.
Get your facts straight about Scott Lago. It was the U.S. Olympic Committee and nothing to do with the Canadians. He left on his own term and what he did was degrading in a sense. Smoking and drinking after a win is a celebration that totally isn't out of the ordinary or inappropriate.
Uhh didn't the USOC and not the IOC ask Lago to leave? Right or wrong, the USOC held Lago to a higher standard. The Russian and Canadian Olympic Committees have not held their athletes to the same.
The russian was a poor sport. The USOC is prudish. The Canadian Olympic committee supported their athletes (as they should). A little beer and cigars? Good for them. (and the 'underage' girl was 18 -- which is the drinking age in her province -- BC just happens to be 19). Y'all never had a beer at 18? Vancouver is insane right now. 10am on a rainy Saturday, and the streets are packed. Then next two days are going to be crazy!
