I can't believe they left Kippresoff in there that long. 4-0 halfway through the first. Its going to take a bigger miracle than the miracle on ice for Finland to come back.
Cannonball: nice! gotta find a link. they aint showin hockey here Donkeymagic: LMAO. really?? LOL. aite man. peace.
C'mon Finland make it at least a game. At this rate they might as well put in their Bronze Medal women's team. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pN2ZJBh92SM&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pN2ZJBh92SM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
This is awesome. It's great that the U.S. team is doing so well this winter olympics in Hockey. Hopefully this will give the NHL some much needed and well deserved attention all across America.
I used to watch it a lot on ESPN but haven't been since the lockout and it moving to VS. If Houston had a team, I'd atch it all the time. As it stands, I'm a Flyers fan because I was living near Philly when I became interested in hockey about 20 years ago. Unfortunately, I don't get to see them play much anymore.
Yeah, ever since the lockout it seems like a lot of people just stopped watching. I did too until a few years ago. I never really understood why more Americans weren't into the game to be honest. It's got physicality, it has fights (which you only get a five minute penalty for), there's speed... there's always a chance for high scoring as well. It's pretty much up the alley of what Americans like to see in their sports. I live in Los Angeles so I'm a pretty big Kings fan and they're doing well this year so it's also pretty exciting for me. I guess if everyone here is mostly from Houston, then it would probably be a pretty skewed demographic of how many hockey viewers we have here, given that there is no NHL team. I am a big baseball fan, too, but I could never understand how some people could watch two teams they have no connection to in baseball, but then whine and moan about hockey??? I can't even stand watching the Yanks and the Red Sox, because it's two teams I don't give a **** about, and the sport is generally a very slow-paced game. But some Americans actually prefer that to a good game of hockey.
I walked out of my office at 3-0 came back to 6-0 The first 10 minutes of hockey may have been the best 10 minutes the US has played all tourney. The second 10 may have been even better but I missed most of it. For those interested you can see it on silverlight from the NBC page http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/as...-a310958540d9.html#watch+live+team+usa+hockey
Aeros are still here, they're the farm team for the Minnesota Wild. But they're never on TV and get no time on talk radio. They might as well not exist anymore.
Yes, it's a great game. Not a lot of down time like baseball or football where they huddle after every play. Basketball has a lot of fouls and TV timeouts that slow the game down. Hockey substitutes players on the fly. Not only does that cut down on game stoppages, but it keeps the players fresh throughout the whole game. So the game is always moving along and unlike soccer, there's a lot more shot taken and goals scored and pretty much has action going on all the time. I played in high school, I was the starting goalie and I had a lot of fun. Watching olympic hockey has kind of made me want to strap my skates on again and find a league to play in.
Actually the Koreans are probably covering Ohno quite abit because they hate him. He's like their Karl Malone. Bullardfan if you don't think the US media isn't making a big deal about Kim Yu-Na you should check out the NBC site. http://www.nbcolympics.com/ What I've noticed in the last 24 hours is that about half of the latest articles and videos are about her.
Well, USA has done it's part. Canada needs to do the same to set up the rematch. But I don't expect Slovakia to give them too much of a problem. Miller is still hot and riding a nice shutout streak and a hot goalie is always a wild card that can lead any team to victory.
