When you've worn a vinyl corset with hot pink laces it's really quite difficult to top unlesss you go shirtless with a dong tattoo on your chest - like Brock Lesnar.
Something tells me that Johnny Weir may be the basis for Jon Heder's character in Blades of Glory, at least costume wise. I think they even showed a clip the other night of Weir wearing a bird themed costume where his right hand was the head of the bird.
I have read none of this thread, but thought I'd add my comments. I have been watching the Olympics. 1. This is key. The Olympics are VERY VERY watchable....with a DVR. There is about 30%-40% performance and 60%-70% Bob Costas, interviews, medal ceremonies and just "down-time". I don't need or want to watch any of that. 2. I liked the opening ceremony a LOT. I understand it wasn't China, but they spent what, 1/10th the cost, and really really did provide an understated but very cool and fitting opening ceremony. The NBC announcers (Costas, Lauer) didn't help, though, and the malfunction was disappointing. 3. I thought the KD Lang version of Hallelujah was amazing. I barely know KD Lang. I never heard her sing, really...but damn, she can sing. Watching true professionals sing makes you realize how utterly awful some of the new musicians out there are - the American Idol want to be, the entertainers, etc. It's like they have decent voices, can move around a bit and might produce some catchy tunes....but vocally can't come close to some of these serious singers. 4. Almost universally, I find the woman's events to be more boring than the men's. This isn't a sexist thing. My wife agrees. They shouldn't have even aired the woman's half pipe. It's like WNBA vs. NBA. Sure, WNBA players are talented in their own way, and would likely run me out of the gym, but it's like watching paint dry compared to the big boys. 5. The games are much more fun if there is a nice mix of failure. I don't want to root for everyone to fail...then it gets boring. And I'm not rooting for serious injury by any means. But I like to see people fall. Those 2 Korean skaters that knocked each other out of the silver and bronze on the final turn, allowing the 2 Americans to get on the podium...pure awesomeness. 6. I've never been to Vancouver. But man, who wouldn't want to live there? The place looks freaking awesome. 7. Luge is boring. The tragic death was...tragic. And even with the move down the track, they were still generating some amazing speeds. But for some reason, it doesn't translate on the television to me. I watched a couple of runs, then fast forward. 8. Events with gun shooting are great. 9. The Russian flag is so so boring. The sickle and the hammer was so much cooler.
I was just about to post something. I just turned it on and noticed he's not there. Is that really what happened? Dude set American curling back 50 years. Apparently, they are in desperate need of sponsorship. I imagine his epic levels of fail didn't help the cause. Maybe if they actually threatened to medal, some low level sponsor might have taken notice. Even one of his partners is quitting after this tournament. He can't afford to dish out all that money only to watch Shuster shuster away their chances over and over again (I kid but maybe he would've thought twice if not for all the epic shuster). He is the Nick Anderson of the curling world. Much like the 4 choked free throws, Shuster had 4 fairly easy shots to seal victories and failed every time.
Yeah, the coach benched him and had the alternate play this game. They said they're going to take it on a game by game basis. If they win (not looking good) then Shuster probably won't come back. If they lose, he might.
Again, I know very little about curling. Do they actually still have a chance after starting out 0-4? I figured it was long over for them.
I'm not sure how many teams make the next round, but there are 9 teams competing, so they could finish .500. The thing is, they've been losing to the crap teams and haven't played the good teams yet. So I don't think they're mathematically eliminated yet, but they probably have no realistic shot at advancing.
Well, it looks like they're about to go 0-5. Shuster has already done the damage. Any confidence the team had is long gone.
Well, the US was down 3-1 going into the 9th end and wound up getting 2 points to tie it. Maybe they'll squeak out a win with Shuster not around to shuster things up.
I don't know man. I think I am starting to agree with splinter cell. No one is that gay. TWO GREEN DOTS! SUCK IT BICCHES!
I don't think I've seen a gayer man Weir... everything he does is just so GAY. Anyways, 20 medals for the US... lookin' good now... Couple of medals from Alpine Skiing... go USA!
