It was a Monday, the 284th day of 1999, 7,305 days ago when I re-registered on ClucthCity. Since that day Clutchfans has been a constant in my life. Funny watching the Rockets, the BBS and times change. The Rockets season ended up looking like this as we were at the end of the Hakeem Era and be beginning of the Stevie Franchise Era: Code: Rk Age G GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% 2P 2PA 2P% eFG% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS/G 1 Steve Francis 22 77 77 36.1 6.5 14.5 .445 1.4 4.0 .345 5.1 10.5 .483 .493 3.7 4.7 .786 2.0 3.3 5.3 6.6 1.5 0.4 4.0 3.0 18.0 2 Shandon Anderson 26 82 82 32.9 4.5 9.5 .473 1.0 2.7 .351 3.5 6.7 .523 .524 2.4 3.1 .767 1.1 3.6 4.7 2.9 1.2 0.4 2.4 2.2 12.3 3 Charles Barkley 36 20 18 31.0 5.3 11.1 .477 0.3 1.3 .231 5.0 9.8 .510 .491 3.6 5.5 .645 3.6 6.9 10.5 3.2 0.7 0.2 2.2 2.4 14.5 4 Cuttino Mobley 24 81 8 30.8 5.4 12.5 .430 1.3 3.6 .356 4.1 8.9 .460 .481 3.7 4.4 .847 0.7 2.8 3.6 2.6 1.1 0.4 2.3 2.1 15.8 5 Kenny Thomas 22 72 29 25.0 2.9 7.4 .399 0.4 1.7 .262 2.5 5.7 .440 .429 1.9 2.9 .660 2.0 4.0 6.1 1.6 0.8 0.3 1.6 2.3 8.3 6 Walt Williams 29 76 66 24.5 4.1 9.0 .458 1.3 3.4 .391 2.8 5.5 .500 .533 1.3 1.6 .821 0.9 3.1 4.0 2.1 0.6 0.6 1.5 2.5 10.9 7 Kelvin Cato 25 65 32 24.3 3.3 6.2 .537 0.0 0.1 .000 3.3 6.1 .543 .537 2.1 3.2 .649 1.6 4.4 6.0 0.4 0.5 1.9 1.1 2.7 8.7 8 Hakeem Olajuwon 37 44 28 23.8 4.4 9.6 .458 0.0 0.0 .000 4.4 9.5 .461 .458 1.6 2.5 .616 1.5 4.8 6.2 1.4 0.9 1.6 1.7 2.0 10.3 9 Carlos Rogers 28 53 15 20.8 3.2 6.1 .525 0.0 0.3 .071 3.2 5.8 .545 .526 1.5 2.6 .591 1.8 3.3 5.2 0.8 0.3 0.6 1.2 1.5 8.0 10 Matt Bullard 32 56 27 18.3 2.5 6.1 .409 1.4 3.2 .446 1.1 2.9 .368 .525 0.4 0.5 .833 0.2 2.2 2.5 1.1 0.3 0.2 0.6 1.5 6.8 11 Bryce Drew 25 72 5 18.0 2.2 5.7 .383 0.8 2.3 .362 1.4 3.5 .396 .454 0.6 0.7 .849 0.3 1.1 1.4 2.3 0.6 0.0 0.9 1.1 5.8 12 Moochie Norris 26 30 0 16.7 2.3 5.3 .434 0.4 1.0 .414 1.9 4.3 .438 .472 1.9 2.4 .781 0.5 1.7 2.3 3.1 0.8 0.0 1.0 1.1 6.9 13 Anthony Miller 28 35 14 13.6 1.5 2.8 .536 0.0 0.0 1.5 2.8 .536 .536 0.7 1.5 .510 1.4 3.3 4.7 0.5 0.3 0.3 0.5 1.9 3.7 14 Bill Curley 27 4 0 12.5 1.5 2.8 .545 0.0 0.0 1.5 2.8 .545 .545 0.0 0.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 0.0 0.5 0.0 1.0 2.5 3.0 15 Thomas Hamilton 24 22 7 12.4 1.6 3.6 .443 0.0 0.0 1.6 3.6 .443 .443 0.5 1.0 .522 1.4 2.7 4.1 0.7 0.2 0.6 1.3 1.1 3.7 16 Tony Massenburg 32 10 0 10.9 1.6 3.6 .444 0.0 0.0 1.6 3.6 .444 .444 1.4 1.6 .875 0.7 2.0 2.7 0.3 0.2 0.5 0.9 1.3 4.6 17 Devin Gray 27 21 2 5.9 0.7 1.8 .405 0.0 0.0 0.7 1.8 .405 .405 0.9 1.4 .655 0.5 0.7 1.2 0.2 0.2 0.1 0.2 1.0 2.3 Provided by Basketball-Reference.com: View Original Table Generated 10/11/2019. Anyway, Good times Clutch fans. Thanks @Clutch 20 years is a long time for anything and an eternity in internet years. I'm going to will my account to my son one of these days. Go Rockets. Lets win that championship for all the 99'ers still kicking it on the best fan site, best site, on the internet.
It's amazing how so many of us have been here 20 years or longer. I was lurker for a long time before I joined. I was reading Clutch since he was in school even before the clutchcity.com days.
I'm a preseason '99er, too. @CriscoKidd is too. Actually, quite a few of us. Spoiler technically, was a 98er registered as "batseye" pre-server switch ... then re-registered because I settled on hp for all my internet needs, and bought the domain for email. (batseye and hp came from playing bridge heavily at the internets, with hp winning out as both a Bridge-greeting and Texas-greeting too.)
Tbh, I don't know how it works but I used this online conversion site: https://www.numere-romane.ro/roman-numerals-date-converter.php?lang=en
Hmmm. Well since the Romans had a completely different calendar there doesn't seem to be a clear cut answer... yes I just spent 10 mins trying to find out which way was correct. I should just go back in time and register a day in advance so it's X.X.MCMXCIX Now where did I put that time machine?
i also followed clutchfans pre-clutchcity. this was way back when we all got together at a diner to talk about rockets. clutch didn't even have a computer back then.
The site looks basically like it did 20+ years ago -- the BBS format will probably be with us forever.
Where are we and Rockets be in the next 20 years? It seems like such a long time from now, but as usual, it'll be here tomorrow.
I remember logging in back in 1998 at the latest. The clutchcity.com days. 28.8k modem and one of the very first AOL browsers. Good times. The handful of us that were around were so incredibly stoked when we had acquired Pippen.
Boy were we wrong about that one. Pick one Pippen or Melo YOF vs LOF Cato’s Contract or Maloney’s contract
Nothing will ever beat the disappointment that was Quitten. We had such high expectations and rightfully so. He was supposed to be our new 3rd superstar since Drexler had just retired. At least we didn’t take the Odom package for Yao based off of Stevie and Cat’s suggestion.
