It is a PS3 exclusive. It is sort of like Gears of War meets Tomb Raider (or, more accurately, an Indiana Jones movie).

It is not, I think its currently exclusive on the PS3, don't know if there are plans to release it on the 360. Looks like a good game, I will be getting it next month along with a PS3.

    edit: grrrrrrr RC

I saw and watched people play that game. The graphics were good. It was like tomb raider. Ratchet and Clank was much better though.

That flying dragon game they had there sucked.

I just really dont have an interest in the PS3. I am so sick of hearing SONY always complain that the reason they arent putting out good games is because their system is "tough to design games for." Plus, it seems that every game that comes out on both 360 & PS3, the 360 seems to be better.

This may change. I mean the PS2 didnt really hit its stride until it had been out over a year.

As far as a Wii? Gamecube was the last chance for Nintendo with me. They fumbled that ball...

I agree, but I might as well get one now since there probably won't be anymore price drops soon, plus I might just ask my girl to get me one for Christmas. Only real reason I want it is for MGS4. Uncharted isn't a system seller but it is probably the best game out for PS3 at the moment, and I can't wait for UT! I will probably not get a Wii anytime soon though, my friend has one and I go over and play it maybe twice a month and it just bores me after about 20 minutes.

    UT?

I heard MGS4 will come out for 360 later. Was that not true? After the letdown that was MGS2, I approach that series with cautious optimism...

    UT = Unreal Tournament

It is possible that MGS4 comes out on 360, probably if it doesn't sell well on the PS3 I am guessing. I actually enjoyed MGS2, MGS3 however... sucked.

Dont sleep on the Wii! Gamecube had nothing going for it...no graphics, no innovation...just a bunch of Mario games.

But the Wii, it has innovation in its advantage. I'll admit though, I have a Wii, but I rarely play it because the games are all kiddie so far. But rail shooters like Ghost Squad and Umbrella Chronicles are great signs for things to come for the more mature audience.

Although I don't play the Wii as much as the 360, EVERY time I have parties, the 360 doesn't get touched, and the Wii is on ALL day.

It's a great console. It might not be on the same level as the 360/PS3 is concerned, but it does excel in gameplay. Something the Gamecube couldn't say. Plus it's only $250.

the wii is only good for parties/ social gatherings. when playing alone, 360/ps3 is the way to go.

And thats a big part of it - I didnt like the controller from day one. It does seem like a novelty/party system. But, to partially quote everyones favorite Greek guard, I got tired of Nintendo's lies. ;)

They just always make a bunch of promises about competing and getting thrid party devolopers and shedding the kiddie image and it just never happened. Then when I saw that the Wii has the same system specs as a Gamecube, I just said F*** Nitendo!

Which is really sad, because Zelda has always been one of, if not my favorite series ever. I got Twilight Princess on Gamecube and that was pretty much my Swan Song with Nintendo...

Uncharted is a Sony developed IP, so it will stick to Playstation systems. In fact, most of the PS3 exclusives are developed by Sony, and that will probably continue be the case in the next few years (could be a big positive for Sony since they have considerably more internal studios than MS, potentially leading to large number of great exclusives).

Yeah, R&C is definitely up there too (in terms of gameplay and graphics). I prefer Uncharted, but you can't go wrong with either one IMO.

Technically speaking, Sony aren't the ones complaining. For the most part (*glares at Lair*), they've had no problems creating good games for the PS3 (most of the good games for the PS3 are developed by Sony). It is the 3rd party developers that are doing the complaining, usually the ones making games for both the 360 and PS3. They usually develop for the 360 in mind, but porting their games to the PS3 (with this strategy) is extremely difficult. This can result in canceled games, delays, removal of certain features in the PS3 version, or a difference in visuals/performance.

Sony's trying to help, although it seems like developers will have to rethink their approach to multiplatform games. Sony recommends that they start on the PS3 first and then port to the 360, or at least develop on each system at the same time. A few developers have taken (or will take) this approach, and it does seem like a much better strategy.

Were you aware that UT3 for the PS3 might be released in December? Midway officially delayed it to 2008 to be on the safe side, but I think I read something from Mark Rein that seemed to indicate things were going much smoother than they anticipated, which might lead to the game being released much sooner than expected.

I almost missed that piece of news, which is surprising since it seems kind of important.

As bladeage mentioned, there is a chance it could happen, although FWIW, I wouldn't really count on it. I won't say it is impossible since just about any 3rd party IP has a good chance of being released on multiple platforms under the right conditions. But I'd say there are few exclusive 3rd party games that would be less likely to show up on another platform than MGS4.

IOW, I'd expect MGS4 to show up on the 360 just like I'd expect Rafer Alston to make a 3pt FG.

Doesnt matter to me one way or another. As I said, MGS2 left such a bad taste in my mouth that I dont really care about the series anymore. Which is, of course, really sad.

OK, I beat it last night so I'll share my thoughts.

Overall, I thought it was a very good game. The graphics and gameplay were awesome although I did hit a few glitches. Towards the end of the game it became real choppy and I had to get a checkpoint/save point and restart.

I did every mission I could. I climbed all the view points, saved all the citizens, did all the investigative missions. The only things I didn't really pursue were collecting flags and killing all the Templars. I suck at "find all 100 flag" type stuff. It took me about 1 1/2 - 2 hours minimum per assassination.

It wasn't too hard. Almost everything I was able to do the first or second time. The hardest side missions were the informer ones later in the game where you have to assassinate 5 Templars in about 4 minutes. What sucked about those is that you can get recognized easily and then you have to hide and start again. Its also hard to shadow somebody when beggars are hounding you and the loonies are punching you.

Oh yeah, the worst parts are the drunk, loonies, and beggars. The drunks and loonies don't punch or push anyone but you and the only way to avoid it is to preemptively punch them (they run off crying) which blows your cover if you're trying to hide. There's a pickpocket mission where you're surrounded by like 10 loonies and you have to let them beat the crap out of you because if punch them you blow your cover and have to start over. And one beggar is bad enough but later you'll get 2 hounding you at the same time. One time I got 3.

And the missions did get very repetitive.

Somebody asked about water. There is water but not too much of it (though there is a large harbor in Acre. It's OK. But what sucks is that Altair can't swim. WTF, here's this badass assassin and he can't even doggie paddle.

There aren't many weapons but you don't need them. You'll use your sword and hidden blade 90% of the time. I only used the short blade to change things up and I only killed one guard with my throwing knifes.

A word of advice about combat. Pay attention when you learn the step/break defense move. With most enemies, you can knock them down and slaughter them when they're on the ground. For some reason you can't do that with a few of the later bosses. When you counter you'll just knock them down and when you try to attack them on the ground you just get air. So you actually need to be aggressive and attack them instead of waiting for a counter kill.

The cities were fantastic. When I heard there were only 3 cities I thought that was an awfully low number. But the cities are huge. They're divided into 3 districts (rich, middle, poor). Only one section is open at the beginning but the others open up later. So it's like 3 cities and 9 districts and then there's your home city too. And there are small village all throughout the kingdom as well.

But I really liked the story, especially the dual story lines. The description of an epic tale that has implications all the way to modern day are correct. I love that aspect of it. Kind of hard to follow at first but once you get the feel of the story telling, it became easier. The conclusion of the Altair storyline was very satisfying. Desmond's ending sets up the apparent sequels. There is a WTF, what does that mean moment right before the credits roll. But like the Penny Arcade review says, wait for the credits to roll. Afterwards you can go back and search some things you weren't able to before and get an answer. It will also kind of give some insight on what's going on with Desmond and may foreshadow what's to come.

Oh, and during the entire game I was thinking of how Lucy reminded me of Kristen Bell. Well, it IS Kristen Bell. Awesome.

    8/10

You spoiled some of the side mission stuff for me, the
templar killings and the crapload of crazy dudes at the same time.

Those looney guys are sooooooo annoying, the first time I encountered one I was like wtf, I must have ran into him, but he kept doing it, so i assassinated him. most of the time they just piss me off so i get my little blade ready and go crazy assassinating all of them.

I'm going to be picking up a couple of games soon and I'm thinking it'll be Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty 4.

Good to hear and see both games getting great reviews.
