Not hearing any word of a store in houston selling it at midnight.. or early... come on.. someone has to have the hookup!
since most will be geting the game tomrrow. time to lay out the gamertag in case some want some good ncaa online games. Sycostaggs if anyone wants another friend or play games.
I know the Walmart on Westheimer and Dunvale put 07 out at midnight. Don't know about this year though. I would think so though.
Someone tell me... is this game worth going ahead and getting the 360? I plan on getting one of the systems eventually if not...but I'm thinking about going ahead and getting it early because I didn't even buy NCAA on Xbox last year and I'm ready for a new one. Pretty much all I play is NCAA and Madden, and every now and then whatever the better MLB and NBA game that comes out is and maybe the occassional shooter game, but not much. I looked at demos for the xbox version, and graphically it looks identical to the 2 year old version I have. That's what has me thinking about upgrading.
It is probably worth getting a next-gen system (360 or PS3), although I don't think the game by itself is worth getting a 360 specifically since it is on both platforms (the framerate differences in this year's game makes the 360 version a little more attractive to hardcore gamers though). If you buy a 360, it should be for Halo 3, Gears of War, Mass Effect, etc.
Well, like I said, about 90% of what I play are sports games. Mostly NCAA and Madden. I would probably get Halo 3, but that's not the reason I'm buying it. It looks like now the 360/PS3 versions of ncaa, madden and such are going to be that much better than the xbox/ps2 versions to make it worth it. If I get one now, it's definitely going to be 360. I realize the potential of the PS3, and the blu-ray is nice, but I've always preferred and gone with other systems over Sony (such as gamecube and xbox)...and at the current price Sony isn't intriguing at all.
Well yeah, I guess in that case it would be hard to use those other games to justify a purchase (sorry I didn't quite take the hint in your first post). Sports games would generally be available on both. MLB The Show is probably the only exception (exclusive to Playstation), and it is a great franchise (the MLB game by 2K is really mediocre). But since you only seemed slightly interested in baseball games (mostly Madden and NCAA), that doesn't really matter I guess. So yeah, the game probably is worth getting a 360 for. Now unfortunately for you, it seems like Microsoft might be cutting the price on the 360 any month now (or maybe not), so that might make it hard to buy one until they officially announce it. Personally, I'm also putoff by the high percentage of hardware failure they're still having (hopefully this will be fixed soon), but the warranty with the system at least makes sure that you won't have to pay for replacements for a while if you do encounter a problem. I should note that I'm not the biggest NCAA (or Madden) fan, so I'd probably wait for some more opinions and impressions for the game. But I doubt opinions will differ too much (nobody will say the game is absolutely horrible...hopefully).
Cola, The sports gamer is a different subset from the fanboy gamer. When I was at my sports gamer mode in college, i played a fanboy gamer at SNES Madden. Even though I never played that game on SNES. fanboy gamer is good at all games, shooters, fighters, mario type games.. but the sports gamer is a different animal. I whipped this dude's tail cause fanboys don't understand football and coverages. cause you can throw deep passes all day on the computer doesn't mean you can do that when i'm doubling your wideouts. fanboys don't get when i rush more players than you can block you dont have anytime to throw the ball. then i faded away from the gaming scene and tried the PS2 Madden. Much more complicated than the old SNES/Genesis. I played some high ranking dudes who just audibled on every play and I couldn't stop them or tackle their QB (Michael Vick/Mc Nabb). So sports gamer will always beat fanboy gamer in sports games. now even more since the newer games have hundreds of plays and options and people with more knowledge of the game will always have more advantage than the dudes who can beat God of War or Halo.
Thanks for your input, RC. Anyone have any experience buying 360 on ebay? I'm looking at some that are refurbished, but they have the option to buy a 2 or 3 year warranty with them for 10% of what you pay. I did buy my original xbox on ebay and never had problems with it...though I know there's always a risk. I hate to go cheap on something like this, but after all I am a broke-ass just out of college intern right now.
Pretty sweet so far. I am still adjusting to the controls though. I have known the basic older gen controls from heart for what seems like an eternity. Street Fighter and NCAA are two control schemes I never thought I could tamper with...
Been playing campus legend since rosters arent out yet. Starting out with a wr, but that position got bored real quick. So I tried ss and boy its fun. I love being able to see the whole field, reading the offence, penetrating, stopping the run, just hitting anything that moves. My pass coverage and blitzing isnt that good but i'm working on it.
Isn't that every year, the game never lives up to the hype? I remember a few years ago I counted down the days to the release. I'm glad I don't do that anymore.
Well, I haven't owned it for a few years and this is worlds beyond what I was used to. So I'm enjoying it so far.
