THIS ISNT MEANT TO BE A DAMN PORTABLE DEVICE. who cares how big it is, as long as it fits under the TV and it does what it needs to, id get it. the freaking slim factor and all that BS is stupid. i could care less how the damn thing looks. xbox pwns ps2
Yeah it really doesnt look anything special...but I guess if you can customize it, then it has potential. But the most important thing is what's inside the casing anyways. The controller doesn't look too big which is good but still doesnt look as nice as the S-controller...why change a good thing. At least they moved the black and white buttons but I still wish they would put four trigger/shoulder buttons on the thing ala the ps controllers. It just makes more sense especially when ure playing a game like Halo.
That isn't known yet, and if I had to guess, I'd guess no. IIRC, they were having some issues emulating some Nvidia stuff, and the only way they could get things to work easily is to get help/approval from Nvidia (probably won't happen). They may be trying to get things to work on their own, but it is getting pretty late in the game for that; if they had that working, I would think we would have heard about it by now. Nintendo and Sony have already confirmed backwards compatibility. That would be awesome, although I don't think we'll even get to see the designs at E3, let alone before the event. We may only get some tech demos and the infamous Sony powerpoint slides. Plus, maybe some great announcements.* If they did show a console, it may be possible that it would just be a prototype and may have some big changes before it is released. Here's some of those prototype pics of the Nintendo/Sony Playstation that show you how much things could change: I'm pretty sure it does have 4 trigger/shoulder buttons. This is from the prototype pics from a while back: Looks to me like it has four (2 shoulder buttons, 2 triggers). The following is a bit off-topic from the Xbox 360 design: *BTW, you can file this under the "extreme rumors" section, but there are some rumors going around about E3 and some certain games/developers making some huge announcements. One rumor, which several people that seem to be insiders have stated, is pretty interesting. They stated that KOTOR 3 will be a PS3 exclusive, and one of the insiders thinks that Bioware may be working on it, but he's not sure. If they are working on it, this may mean that the other games that Bioware is working on for the Xbox 360 (Jade Empire, Dragon Age, and a Unreal Engine RPG) may either be multiplatform or on the PS3 exclusively as well. Personally doubt this though since Bioware has been in several press releases, mentioning that Bioware is providing exclusive content for Xbox 360. So it seems as though KOTOR may be on the PS3 according to these guys, but who knows who is making it or if anything else is affected by the move. The scary thing is that these guys say there is a much bigger announcement for E3, a "Megaton," which they gave some hints to. This announcement would also include someone switching to Sony, and it will not be good news for Xbox fans (said something about a betrayal). The thing that confuses me is exactly what is there that Sony could get from Microsoft that would be the "One True Megaton." They could possibly get Team Ninja, Tom Clancy games, or maybe Starbreeze (Chronicles of Riddick), but these are all pretty small, especially when the KOTOR thing was seemingly nothing compared to this megaton. The only things big enough that I could think of would be something like the Halo team, or at least he head guys, leaving for Sony, or maybe EA offering less support to Microsoft than we thought. Of course, I don't think Microsoft would be dumb enough to lose the guys who made Halo, and EA has already seemed to have show support for the Xbox 360 (the teaser commercial had the Xbox 360 control layout, IIRC). Again, take this all with a grain of salt. If anyone wants to keep up on these rumors, check out this thread: http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=45357&page=1&pp=50 Page 6 is when the KOTOR and Huge Megaton for Sony rumors start. Look out for posters with the names Izzy, Johnny Nightrain, and JackFrost2012. These are the "insiders." You can also look for Blimblim, but he doesn't know much about this though.
I actually do care about the size, because I would like to bring it with me when I travel over seas. The reason I got a last generation console was because of the portability of it, I can't go and put my PC (desktop) into my carryon and fly to Saudi.
If you are not a huge monster with monster hands, which controller would you take? ps2 If you had to travel, which one would you take? ps2 (thank you, Uprising) If you had to use older generation controllers (looking at the picture), which one could you take? ps2 If you had to bring your games from your friend's house who has the previous version of your console, on which console could you play them? ps2 WTF?
The size of the XBOX controller hasn't been an issue for a good couple of years. In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing everything that comes out of this E3. Being a fanboy of one console is foolish.
That's absurd. Once you play the Phantom, any other console seems like a piece of crap. Nothing compares to the Phantom, not even the next-gen consoles. Once it launches, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft will be doomed... Hmm...ok, maybe Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are safe considering that last statement. Seriously, I wonder if there will be any Phantom news at E3. I haven't heard anything about it in a while and it would be nice to hear some stuff about it...and then laugh. Why is is so hard to be serious when talking about the Phantom?
Spoken like a true gamer. Though not everybody can afford all 3. Luckily, I made friends with people who had their own consoles of choice.
Why did people get so worked up about what it looks like? I couldnt care what it looked like before....or after I'd seen these pictures. Its about how it plays thats important.
If you are not a huge monster with monster hands, which controller would you take? The S controller. If you had to travel, which one would you take? the gamecube. If you had to use older generation controllers (looking at the picture), which one could you take? S Controller If you had to bring your games from your friend's house who has the previous version of your console, on which console could you play them? None, because my console doesn't have a previous console nor do I have any wish to play PS1 games. When XBox 360 comes out, I will have both consoles so it won't matter. I have no inclination to play PS2 games so it won't be a factor for my decision of Xbox 360 vs PS3. I don't hate PS2, even though I may say something in a fit of rage when a game on XBox is being held back by something I think is a vestigial tail from the PS2 version. I like competition. I prefer XBox mostly because they have Bungie. I may end up buying a PS3 because of the way it is like the XBOX......but definitely not to play PS2 games. I will buy XBox 360 for Halo 3. I usually equate 10 dollars for 2 hours of good entertainment to be a fair value. Halo was enough to make the XBox a great value.
I think me and my friends are the only people that like the old huge X-box controlers.. they just feel right in my hand for playing FPSs I cant stand the little S types that they sell now... Oh well I dont play much any more, but I will buy the 360 when it comes out.. I cant get online to play Halo now because of the old modchip I've got in it, so I'll just hold off till the 360 comes out to get online..
yeah playing Halo on the xbox controller was perfect for me... however in relation to the size and design of the console... us americans might not care as much as to how it looks and how it plays.. but you can bet the house that people in Asia, specifically Japan, does.
I think there is an interview out there that came out recently where Peter Moore mentioned that they designed the console so that it would appeal to the Japanese a little better. I think he said that the original Xbox was nicknamed "The Incredible Hulk." The funny think is that they had this focus to help them with the design. While I think the controller is nice and the console is decent, I can't see how the Japanese will love this design the way Microsoft probably wants them to. Since this thread is still going pretty strong, I'll go ahead and post yet another leak, although this team it is about the Live setup and the Xbox 360 hardware, or basically some of the things that are way more important than the design. Here you go: Since the whole Live setup may be a little confusing, here's another way of putting it that someone at another board made: As mentioned in the Engadget article, this may not be true, but it doesn't seem likely to me. All of the specs are very believable and the "insiders" have confirmed it. I'll probably give my reactions to this info a little later on once I'm done taking everything in.
