I wish I would have saw this thread earlier.. before I blasted mine with the AR-15. I did buy the new slim basic model and swapped over the hd. (I had to buy a shell that fit the new slim)
Old XBox and New have different hard drives. Buy a transfer cable from Gamestop, being very careful not to damage the packaging, make the transfer then put it back in the box and return to Gamestop.
i have a launch and an HDMI model, both work flawlessly. the launch model is from 2005 i never understand why when i hear stories about folks who get RROD its always on multiple systems..
I just checked and I get a transfer cable from newegg for 15.99. That plus the new xbox 360, and that's over $400. Sadly I'll have to wait until August or September. I'm jonesing for some Skyrim right now. I hate waiting. But it's good to practice non-instant gratification. Just thinking of that, I realize I'll have to wait until Sept. because of some other crap I need to pay off. It's a bummer to be without xbox which has my HBO GO on it in addition to my games, but it'll be all the sweeter once I finally get the new xbox and I'm able to play again. The wait is definitely hard, though.
