The "more games" argument was true 2 years ago. I really don't think it is anymore. If anything, it's the other way around.

PS3 - blu ray, better build quality, occasional exclusive.

360 - better online community and features, better DLC support, occasional exclusive.

    Will depend a lot on
    1. the exclusives you want to play
    2. if you play online with your friends, and what system most of them play on
    3. if you want blu ray

Don't listen to the 'there's no comparison' crowd when talking about their system of choice; the systems are much more alike at this point than single system owners would have you believe.

Ummm... where are you getting that?

Quick look at wikipedia says there are a total of 750 360 games released compared to 607 for the PS3... so yeah, there are about 24% more games on the 360... but how many of those hundred or so games are actually worth playing? The PS3 has easily as many good games released in the past 2 years as the 360 does. The 360's entire "advantage" can be attributed to games released before the PS3 launched, which for the most part people just aren't interested in anymore.

If you love Halo and enjoy playing shooters over and over: Buy a 360

If your preference is more diverse (aka: you're not a 14 year old): Get a PS3

Ps3 has more value because of blu Ray. I prefer 360 though as far as gaming goes.

360 is an American gamer console- FPS, Sports, Lots of Blood and Guts, etc

PS3 is a Japanese gamer console- RPGs, clean graphics, etc

(Not that both consoles don't have all of the above)

What gets me is that you have to have XBox Live to use Netflix.

    I have both.

For games, I'd definitely go with Xbox. It'll be clearcut once Project Natal comes out for Xbox. Anything that Sony comes out with won't be able to match Natal IMO.

For media, I generally go with PS3 because of the blu-ray movies I rent and also because my MacBook is compatible with sharing media files unlike Xbox where I'd have to download a program like Connect360.

PS3 has had the better games the last couple of years. I would say maybe this year 360 will do better, but I don't know if Mass Effect 2 of the next Halo can beat GOWIII. That game should win game of the year on most lists.

Also where is this Netflix argument coming from? PS3 has it too! I know it takes a disc, but it really isn't an inconvenience. I've watched tons of stuff on it, most notably every 30 Rock episode. I am going to have to go back and watch some old Lost episodes here soon too.

As a owner of both consoles, I would say go with the PS3. I currently have the PS3 slim, and have owned the 360 Pro editions a couple of times.

Yes, a couple of times. Although I was never hit with the RROD, my first 360 did fail on me in that it scratched disks like a damn DJ. My GTA4 special edition, scratched up. Halo 3, scratched up. And now, I did not move the 360 in each of the incidents. That and the fact that I got tired of paying for online service made me switch to the PS3.

One can say I am biased towards the PS3 due to my negative experiences on the XBOX, but I would recommend the 360 for its far superior controller (even with one of the worst dpad around), the easy to use interface, and the better selection of games (imo) including better versions of cross platform games.

However, the PS3's online as mentioned multiple times already, is free. FREE. And it's not exactly that much of a difference from the 360 in terms of performance that I've noticed. The interface could be better though. Add that with a above average Blu-Ray player and one of the lowest system fail rates compared to the absurdly high rate with the 360, and I'd say PS3.

    Hoped that helped.

While people may have bought these consoles for those reasons, don't think it is all that accurate. For example, jRPG output (or at least good jRPG output) has been practically nonexistent, with the exception of FF13 (available on both consoles). 360 probably has more exclusive jRPGs actually, or maybe did before some of them were later ported.

I'd probably break it down like most did before. Could possibly still label them as American Gamer-Japanese Gamer consoles, but for different reasons (e.g., 360 has strong online play for shooters, sports, etc., while PS3 has a diverse library of games).

[Kevin Butler]Well, they definitely won't be able to match the "Catch a Big Red Ball" experience.[/Kevin Butler]

Hehe...sorry. Couldn't get this commercial out of my head when I read that:
    <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ml_5mj4HvB0&hl=en_US&fs=1&start=50"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ml_5mj4HvB0&hl=en_US&fs=1&start=50" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

I've been a bit out of the loop lately on Project Natal, but didn't they drop the hardware processor, and now it is all software (computed on the 360)? If so, then technically, there's not really much to separate it from the PS Eye, unless I'm missing something (I thought both cameras were more or less the same?). PS Eye would just need software written for it to track human movement instead of the controller. And vice versa, Natal should probably be able to track a controller's movement. Could even have gamer's use buttons on the controller, so buttons + movement are recognized.

Don't really care for either, until they show something more than glorified tech demos. Sure, swinging a sword or using your hands as a steering wheel seems cool...for about 5 minutes. But then I want to see how it will actually improve the gameplay experience (and do so without making it worse, due to small bugs in the software). Still waiting on both. Maybe E3 will shed some light on that.

I have seen Natal, and I was impressed until I was told the specs to make it work.

4 microphones set around the area, and 2 cameras....I mean who is going to do that?

Sure a few hard core gamers, but most people will be like.....pass.....

I liked the PS3 commercial posted above that controller looks cooler than what they are doing with Natal, IMO.

How is the 360 better than the PS3?

I'll give Xbox its online. PS3 simply can't match it.

Game library? PS3. You want to argue exclusives? Halo, Mass Effect, etc. can all be found for the PC. God of War, LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted? Only on PS3

Graphics? PS3. No need for explanation here.

Multimedia? PS3. It simply has one of the best (if not the best) blu-ray players on the market.

RRoD vs YLoD? More people have complained about Xbox than PS3, in failing hardware problems.

Don't get me wrong. I've been on the Xbox bandwagon ever since Halo came out. But it is just hard to argue that the PS3 isn't the better console right now. The price drop was just icing on the cake.

Thats what I never got, the PSEye did the same ting Natal does. Maybe not to the same extent, but pretty close. Sony just never made a whole lot with it and more importantly, they're probably the worst of the three consoles at marketing. At least until the Kevin Butler commercials started airing. LMFAO. Those things are gold.

I also agree with you is that I'd like to see what is done with both gimmicks until I buy. I will probably buy a move controller or two for when I have friends over, but don't see myself playing those things much.

360 still has higher rated games on gamerankings and metacritic than ps3.

I borrowed killzone 2 and did not play much on my own console. Resistance 2 was garbage and did not care to beat it. I played the multiplayer on R2 more than the sp. Like I said I hardly play my ps3, the games do not appeal to me. And you did check my gamertag but you saw I actually play games on my 360 so you decided not post anything about it.
