This game is amazing and addicting... Between Rock Band and Mass Effect I have no free time......

So far I'm 6 hours in (6 hours is a hell of a long time) and I can tell I haven't even budged the beginning (I've done a lot of exploring and side quests they are addicting).

So far this is my favorite game for the 360

My only regret is I'm a soldier and I wish I had the electronics talent since my favorite gun is the sniper.. btw I don't mess with any menus in combat, it's all real-time combat

This game if I was a bystander watching = drool

This game actually playing = sex simulation

Finally got this game for the PC the other day (Amazon had a great deal going). Just started playing tonight (or last night I guess), and I am really enjoying it. I was a little turned off by the combat at first, but after getting the hang of things, I think I'm starting to enjoy it. Everything else is more or less what I'd expect from a BioWare game...and that's basically a great complement.

Here's where I'm at so far:
Just became a Spectre officially and got control of the Normandy, leaving the Citadel.
Story is pretty good so far, although I swear I've heard maybe 80% of this story before somewhere. I think that is just the intro though, and I bet the rest of the story will be a lot more original and interesting. Even if it isn't, BioWare did a great job with the backstory that went into the game. I spent a lot of time just finding out the history and cultures of all the different alien races.

I might give more impressions later on. This game reminds me of one of the behind-the-scenes videos I saw on voice acting though. I remember one of the actors mentioning how they now do the scenes in person with the other actors in order to get the voice levels correct (don't yell or whisper unnecessarily). Whenever Captain Anderson is yelling at me when I'm like 2 feet away, I can't help but think of that video segment. It is Keith David though, so I'll cut him some slack. :)

I remember when I first started this thread I was confused why this game wasnt generating bigger buzz amongst fellow gamers than it was. Glad to see people finally got into it.

I still play this game every once and a while to just run around and kinda enjoy the atmosphere. I've always loved futuristic stuff.

I bought the game but ended up selling it 2 months later.
I got the feeling that it was the same thing over and over again.
It had some cool parts but overall started to get little more bored with it each time I decided to turn it on. In my opinion its worth a rent but at the same time I can understand why a lot of people would love to own it.

RC, let me know your feelings about the game as you progress into it. My gf bought it for me months ago, I played for about a couple weeks, but got busy with school, so I dropped it. Ive always wanted to pick it up again, but the thought of relearning all the controls has discouraged me.

My stepson bought this game and got tired of it fast. But then again, he's never really been into RPGs all that much. I have no idea why he bought it...I guess because of all the buzz around it at the time. Someday I'll pick it up and give it a spin...but not the now. Gotta finish HL2: Ep 2, Oblivion and Super Mario Galaxy first.

I'm 10-15 hours in. Just finished the 2nd of 3 "main" missions that were available after my last post (I found Liara and I just finished the Ferros mission). Still really enjoying it, probably more so than I was earlier.

Most of my time has been spent doing sidequests. I've been having fun doing those, although I can see how people would quickly get bored with it since it is pretty repetitive. A bunch of sidequests basically involve visiting some barren world, finding a base, killing everyone inside, and going back to your ship. I've probably already done this 10+ times already, and there isn't much variation. As a RPG fan though, I don't really mind it. Instead of doing more sidequests, I could just go on with the main story, but I choose to do more since I like the the money, experience, and items I can get (EX: after 2-3 more quests, I'll have my charm maxed out). I don't know if it will continue to be this way, but it seems like the main quests themselves are pretty varied and unique, so I think getting bored wouldn't be as much of a problem if people stuck with those (of course, you'd probably cut the game's length in half or maybe more I guess).

Minor spoilers (not really a big deal, maybe just spoiling gameplay):
I did have to pick between Ashley and Liara last night. Wasn't really ready to pick (didn't really talk to either of them that much), so I tried the threesome suggestion. Should have known that this wouldn't work. :(

Toward the endgame it does get repetitive, but that may be because I've waited till the 'last planet' to get most of the side stuff done at one time.

I know Live has some DLC that I'll have to pick up and try.

Still, another quality Bioware RPG. I've enjoyed the different planets. My only criticisms are the item maintenance/organization is very messy - later on when you start to hit that limit and have to sell/convert your old stuff you get the sense that the entire inventory system needs to be overhauled.

Also, I wish the game was a little more 'open'. There's a whole bunch of solar systems to explore but other than surveying there's not much to do. The planets you do land on start to get a little too much of the same old, same old.

Later on
money gets easier to collect and you start to pick up 'Spectre' weapons and get some nice upgrades
. Makes the fights more fun.

Good game.

Yeah, I've started to run into this problem too. I'm bad at keeping just about every item I get for as long as possible (and I get as many items as I can), so I thought maybe it was just me. It does get really annoying trying to manage this all. I wouldn't mind something as simple as a chest on the Normandy that keeps extra items...or simply the ability to have as many items as you'd like at all times. :)

Yeah, I've started to feel this way too. I was especially disappointed that you couldn't do much in the Sol system either except land on the Moon (unless there is major story-based mission later on). I think BioWare does have a great foundation though, and with the next two games (or more), they can maybe spend more time on making these worlds more interesting to visit.

Another semi-related complaint is that I wish navigating all of this would be a little easier and quicker. It is especially annoying with sidequests that I accepted from the Citadel but require me to visit other worlds. Entering and exiting the Citadel is a bit of a pain after doing it so much. I wish there was a way to skip some of the scenes (entering/leaving, elevator, etc.). They're nice to watch at first, but after a while, it just wastes time. And I'm guessing I probably have the benefit of slightly shorter load times too with the PC version.

Speaking of Bioware, I just downloaded Jade Empire off of XBL and it's pretty cool. Very KOTOR ish, of course, but still cool. The fighting system is pretty fun.

I was thinking about picking up Jade Empire for the PC as well. I think it is ~$12 on Amazon, so why not?

I felt EXACTLY the same way. Hell, I would have been happy (sorta) with even a flag on the moon. :(

I found that later on I didn't go to the Citadel very much at all.

Actually I probably won't visit it much more either. I think I just went back to check out some of the stores since I had a lot more money at that point. Several new quests had opened up, so I ended up taking all them on. Not sure if there will be much more to do there in the future...I hope not.

I did enjoy the little interview you could give when arriving at the Citadel. Fortunately, my charm level was pretty high, so I was able to give some pretty good answers.

Finished the game early last night. Definitely a great game, and I can't wait for ME2.

Speaking of which, has anyone read the Mass Effect books?

Not a big reader (especially with school), but I think I would be interested in checking these out. Apparently, one takes place prior to the game (dealing with Saren and Captain Anderson I believe?), and the other takes place two months after the game, possibly setting up the sequel?

Got the game 5 days ago and just beat it yesterday, i did every side quest and everything, total of about 42 hours of gameplay.
Aghh, yeah that part was kind of annoying. I don't understand how I "picked Liara" considering how i never even really talked to her...
On a side note though, I hope in the sequel they get rid of some of the repetitive Mako bull****. It got rather annoying going up mountains to recover some artificat...

Oh and I hear that you should keep your save files from Mass Effect, because they will influence gameplay on pt. 2

I had just under 30 hours of gameplay, although I stopped checking out sidequests after a while (couldn't find them as easily as I could). Probably could have squeezed a few more hours out of it. Like I believe Apollo Creed mentioned, I am a bit disapointed it wasn't longer (especially since these totals count a lot of hours doing sidequests), but it isn't really THAT big of a deal to me. If they tried to stretch out the main quest, it probably would have been much worse overall.

So yeah, putting a little more effort towards the sidequests could add a lot to an already amazing game IMO.

And I'll definitely make sure to keep my save files for Mass Effect 2. I do like it when developers reward players for things like this.

I had no idea there were Mass Effect novels. That might be pretty interesting. The hard part would be for me to realize I was a guy in a bookstore buying Mass Effect books.

I definitely can't wait for ME 2. This game was a lot of fun.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition Rated In Korea, Possible Announcement at N7 Day

https://twistedvoxel.com/mass-effect-legendary-edition-rated-korea/

Rumors has it this will be a remaster of the trilogy and possibly be released end of this year.

I've long waited for this, hope they alter the battle mechanics of the first game a bit to make it more modern and also overhaul the graphics.
