    I imagine that it is for displaying what player you are. Since these controllers are wireless, there are no controller ports that easily show who is player 1, player 2, player 3, and player 4. The lights will tell you which player you are. At least, that's what I assumed they were for.

    I remember posting this picture long before E3 started...of course, I didn't think it would actually happen. That made it much more entertaining when I saw it happen live. :)

    I bought one just about a year ago and why not? There are thousands of pretty decent games out on PS2 right now, the prices are cheaper. It's about 1/3 of XBox 360's cost. And for some of us, gameplay and storyline is more entertaining than omg, I can see the sweat on that soldier.

    Ok dude, seriously. We know you like video games. We know you like posting about video games...but SALES THREADS!? Even @ NeoGAF these are pretty pointless, it's like stepping into NeoGAF Jr when I come to the Hangout now.

    You even have a NeoGAF account. There's 8000 others there who are happy to talk videogames with you.

    Ummmm....maybe because there was a shortage of 360s available?

    Come on RC, you need to be more impartial.

    Wow...you guys try too hard.

    I didn't feel it was necessary to explain why the PS2 outsold the 360. It has been pretty self-explanatory as to why the 360 sales figures have been so low, and it isn't due to low demand. I'm not going to add the "due to shortages" comment next to every bit of sales info concerning the 360.

    I actually look forward to RC's threads, be it sales info, game previews etc. Most of the time I only frequent two message boards, and with RC's threads I get all the gaming info I want. Take a look at the number of view/replies to his threads. Obvisiously there is a fair amount of interest in games here.

    I've seen a lot of 360 HW available, but I think I'm gonna wait for the PS3...My reasoning, only a handful of my game are backward compatible and if I'm going to have to buy new games anyway, why not a PS3 where all there games will be BC...

    It'll probalby be another year plus, but I can wait as My xbox still rocks..

    That's not an all-time list. It is only the first ~6 months for each console (November to April for each). Halo 2 may not have even started development during that time period. :)

    If you want an all-time list for the Xbox, I could probably find one to post.

    RC,

    I don't try to do anything, I have no dog in the race, I want both to be successful, but it does seem that you slant heavily towards the Sony products.

    No worries though, I appreciate your passion.

    I have accused RC of being too rah rah Sony in the past but he's been pretty impartial lately especially in the E3 thread which could have degenerated into Sony apologism, but it didn't so I've got to give him his due props.

    ah ok...yeah sure I'd be interested in seeing that

    how many total has Halo 1 or Halo 2 sold? I know FF7 sold like 10million in its lifetime, that's insane for a videogame

    C'mon, now, tocayo Miguel, leave him be if he wants to discuss this stuff... I know some are out of hand with comparisons, and such, but most of his threads are good.

    I support Remote Control Cola. Video game guru like none, RC Cola is. ¡Gracias, RC!

    not really. if u want cheap entertainment. a dvd player, plus a whole bunch of games. a ps2 is fine. plus there are tons of super cheap used games.

    xbox360/ps3 is for the hard core game, if u are a casual gamer, a ps2 is fine. plus its slim.

    i sold my ps2 on craiglsts, and billion people emailed me.

    I can't quite get them all, but here are the Xbox games that sold 1M or more:
    http://everythingandnothing.org.uk/vg/worldtotals.php?name=&console=XBX&publisher=&sort=Total
    I can't copy and paste without it getting ugly, so here are the top 5:

    Halo 2 sold ~7.5M units worldwide (~5.7M in US)
    Halo sold ~6.3M units worldwide (~4.9M in US)
    Splinter Cell sold 2.9M units worldwide (~1.76 in US)
    The GTA Double Pack sold ~2.27M units worldwide (~1.6M in US)
    NFS: Underground sold ~2M worldwide (~1.15M in US).

    Check out the link for the rest. I don't usually use the numbers from that site, but they should be close enough. It is a little more difficult to find data on older games.

    FWIW, I believe each of the GTA games this generation exceeded 10M. I think Gran Turismo 3 did as well.

    The 360 lost the number 1 spot in May:

    360 = 221,000
    PS2 = 232,000

    XBX = 26,000
    GC = 33,000
    GBA = 158,000 (approx)
    DS = 147,000 (approx)
    (no PSP numbers yet...maybe lower than the DS)
    edit: Apparently, PSP>GBA, so it sold more than the DS. Not sure what PSP buyers bought with their PSP though.

    The 360 numbers seem pretty low considering there definitely shouldn’t be any shortages anymore, not to mention the PS3 price bombshell earlier in the month. Wonder if this means that people aren’t quite ready for a $400 console…which means Sony might be in big trouble when they start trying to sell a $500-$600 console to the same people. Wii for the win? :)

    SW Rankings (by $) for those that care:
    NSMB did really well obviously (#1 at a pricetag lower than the others; BTW, it sold like 900+K in Japan in a week IIRC). KH2 still doing well. 360 software still impressive as usual, and a couple of $20 games in GoW and Brain Age seem to be putting up solid numbers. Table Tennis, despite the low ranking, became the best-selling table tennis game ever. ;)

    edit: I think these sold 100K or more:
    NSMB
    KH2
    GOW
    Brain Age
