i've seen three movies thus far on the my hd-dvd player, goodfellas, king kong and fast and furious tokyo drift and i must say i have been impressed by them all. the newer movies looks amazing, esp kong but even goodfellas where i had yet to see a good transfer of the film on dvd looked very good.

i love the menu ease and use, the fact you do not need to stop watching the movie to access the menu features is great. if you have a 360 i would recommend this, now if only the vga problem fixes up.

have last samurai and spartacus at home as well will check them out over the weekend

Is this coupon still valid? I tried opening it up but it would not let me. Said something about registering for WINZIP? I am not sure if that is because I am at work?

If the coupon is still valid could someone repost the link so that we are able to open it. Thanks in advance.

For those curious, I think the 360 HD DVD player sold ~42K units when it was released in November. Also, for those with the player (or a standalone HD DVD player), I might recommend Hulk, which recently came out. It got a great review from High-Def Digest:

I think most of the p*rn studios sided with Blu-ray, so pretty much no HD DVD p*rn at this point...which is probably a good thing. ;)

I thought HD-DVD had the support of the p*rn industry.

As for Hulk, I hated that movie so I don't care how nice it looks. Unfortunately I placed an order for Field of Dreams based on positive comments on another forum only to read a pretty harsh review on High-Def Digest after it had already shipped. It's a shame too since with the exception of the dreadful Spartacus, Universal's been doing great work with catalog titles recently(Out of Sight and The Mummy both looked outstanding).

Not that I'm aware of. I don't know if there have been any official announcements to be honest (outside of Digital Playground's announcement of support for Blu-ray), but I was under the impression that they were in support of Blu-ray (if any format):

I think I was wrong is saying that there is no HD DVD p*rn though. I think some smaller p*rn studios might have released some HD DVD p*rn. Maybe in Japan or some place like that.

edit: Vivid Entertainment will also be releasing their first HD p*rn movie early next year initially just for Blu-ray. They are considering both formats though, and not really trying to pick one (just leaning toward Blu-ray I guess):

I feel really weird researching this topic.

This will be the first thing that will make me think about buying a hd player, it comes out in blue-ray, HD-DVD, and DVD.

That being said, I will wait a few years to see what format wins.

I hope it doesn't take a few years to decide a format winner. If it takes that long, both formats will probably end up "failing."

I just figured it would take over a year (after next Christmas at the earliest) before one of the two could be considered a winner and two before the other quits.

How long do you think it will be before it is decided?

That sounds about right. If it goes to 3-4 years before a format could be considered the winner, there could be some issues.

Of course, if the movie studios exclusive to Blu-ray would just release some movies based on their major IPs (James Bond, Rocky, Spider-man, Pirates of the Caribbean, Pixar films, Chronicles of Narnia, Star Wars, etc.), the war could probably end pretty soon.
